Fishing Updates and Random Drawing - 12/21/18 Re-Broadcast

Image
Re-broadcast of our Facebook Live Session where we provided quick updates on fishing in our area, and then the random drawing for the four fishing flies we tied. Same ones we used on the Blue River, Turner Falls Park, and locally at Bethany Lakes in Allen and Waterloo Park Pond in Denison, TX! Do check out our Facebook Page @coaffieldteam for follow-on drawings of fishing flies we tied and used on local ponds, river, and lakes!

Quick Update from the Team. Lots of Happenings... #coaffieldteam

Been out of pocket lately but have been able to wet a line or two and post about it as well as post a video on our YiuTube Channel on pond hopping with the OPST Commando Head on our mojo rod – the 9′-5wt Fly Rod. Followed up with a second video to demo the Over the Shoulder Cast and how we do so using the same rod and shooting head. Also, made it out several time to the local lake for kayak fishing. Action has not been as good in year’s past but no worries… always good to get some exercise in even when the fish are not biting. We are still working on the Bottom Bouncing Jig video to show how we use this method when kayak fishing. Do stay tuned; will keep editing and preparing it for release… hopefully sooner than later! Here are some quick updates on “happenings” from the Team… After many years of great service, had to retire the old Columbia sandals we like to use for kayaking. Luckily, we had a backup pair at the ready… which was n...

Been out and about these past few days in the Texas Hill Country and the Texas Coast… hung out in New Braunfels and Gruene, did some fishing, then headed to Corpus Christi and Port Aransas. More fun times and fishing. Have a video to be worked still, but here is a quick update from the Team on our trip so far! PS: Added a snippet of the green led lights at Doc’s Restaurant in Corpus Christi. Fish are still there! #greenledlight

TGIF But... #quickupdate #coaffieldteam

It’s another TGIF that could not have come sooner. Really needing the weekend break from the work week to recharge the batteries. Had planned on more fly fishing the local ponds this weekend, but Saturday may be wet. So, will come up with something indoors to do that is still related to fishing! Till then, here is your’s truly with a Quick Update from the Team! PS: Here are the links to the articles mentioned in the update… The PMOT and COAF Damsel Fly ! https://www.facebook.com/FieldTeamFishingLog/videos/1851074104911586/

Quick Update - April 17, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Image
Quick update this evening… past weekend was busy but no fishing. Did have fun wine tasting and picking out a bottle of sweet red wine for later enjoyment. Also, posted the article – Fly Tying – The PMOT , pattern we have been using to replace the Damsel Fly. Seems to illicit more strikes when the fishing fly is sinking slowly or resting on the bottom compared to the Damsel Fly. Finally, had a bite at Rudy’s Barbecue and Country Store in Allen… next to Cabelas. Tasty meal! For the remainder of the week, work will sidetrack things but at least the lawn is trimmed, edged, and mowed… so, if an opening during the week to fish a pond or two shows, will go fishing!

Slight rain delay in fishing but did note the OPST Commando Head demo is gaining interest from viewers! Liking the one-handed spey technique! Also, the broiled trout recipe is doing well… working another one… Pan Fried Trout with a little fortified buttery nipple cocktails to have while cooking! Hope to have it posted soon!

Quick Update - March 24, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Made it to Eagle Mountain Lake Park and walked the trails. Your’s truly brought fishing gear and first opportunity to wet a line… did so! No bites but did get to leverage the OPST Skagit Commando Head to cast line without regard to the trees blocking our back cast! Glad to know that the single-handed spey casting will work when needed in these field situations! Fun time… but tonight going to look for live music venues in the area; more to come on Instagram!

This evening working later than normal on a Friday, but work is done and the weekend is here! No fishing, just chillin’ with a glass of red wine while preparing to grill steaks and poblanos on the grill for dinner. Plan tomorrow is to take the switch rod to a lake down the road and see how the fish are biting. Never been before… always good to check out new places to fish!

Quick Update - March 21, 2018 #ukeleletime

Image
No fishing today, day job has us working instead of fishing. That said, if you can’t go fishing, there is always ukelele time! Here is a song from last year but with an added verse and a change here and there. Bummer on the video quality; had to use a backup camera as the one we normally used had no battery power. Luckily, audio stayed good… here’s to summer and spring nights and cruising… hopefully, to a fishing spot in the near future!

Quick Update - March 19, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Another quick update… Finally posted the TRWD Flyfest video on our YouTube Channel! Was a fun year, and a great time… even better to close out the stocking season with the Bruiser. Plus made for a tasty meal, too. Answering the mail since mentioning the broiled trout recipe; been getting questions asking for more details on the recipe we used. So, posted an article – “Broiled Trout Recipe” . Do check it out and give it a try!

Quick Update - March 18, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Made it to McKinney this morning and fished for a couple of hours. Caught two, lost two, then had leave them biting. Power Bait, Power Worms, and corn were working. Olive Near Deere under a strike indicator worked, too. Did try a new recipe for the trout caught Friday… broiled it this time. Tasty dish, keeping this one for future 20″ and larger trout!

Quick Update – March 17, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Made it to McKinney’s Towne Lake this morning and checked out the trout derby. Lots of kids fishing and winning prizes! Saw lots of trout being caught as well. Water was murky but bite was still on. Did not fish the morning but came back in the afternoon and was able to catch and release a few that went for an Olive Near Deere set three feet below and strike indicator!

Quick Update – March 16, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Quick update from the Team has us sidetracked again from editing the TRWD fishing video but really tough given yours truly had the day off. So, to mix things up, decided to do a little “ukelele time” before making the run to Fort Worth to fish the Trinity River for some bruiser Trout! Have tried the week after TRWD Flyfest in the past and had a tough go at catching trout. Weather tends to warm up quickly soon after the event. That said, this round was looking like a strike out. Luckily, did get one that went for an “improvised rat tail” using a Near Deere and a Power Worm. Really nice trout that went 20″ in length! Back to editing video but already know, will be sidetracked by the Trout Derby in Mckinney!

Quick Update - March 15, 2018 #coaffieldteam

Image
No fishing this evening. Working on editing the video from TRWD Flyfest and the day after. Having a little wine to help get us through the editing process. That said, got the day off tomorrow… so who knows, may get sidetracked again in the video editing process to make another run to Fort Worth to see what the action looks like a week after TRWD Flyfest!

Another quick update… 59 seconds with the Field Team! Still owe a video on TRWD Flyfest but sidetracked with.. fishing! Tough to pass up a chance to fish especially on nice days like today! This round managed a quick trip to Bethany Lakes and caught little Bass, and then mentioned the trout derby on Saturday in Mckinney!
