Today's Catch Ultralight Baitcasting | Average Joe's Broadcast, Let's Talk Fishing Series 😎

Image
Trout stocking at our local pond - Bethany Lakes in Allen, Texas! Not able to see them stock the trout but did make it later in the evening. Lots of trout, lots of fishermen, luckily did manage to limit out!  Gear Used Shimano Reel 17 Scorpion BFS XG Right https://amzn.to/3K6KwFV Kastking Zephyr with clicker: https://amzn.to/3KB9H3D Kastking Zephyr: https://amzn.to/3sFbrPe BPS Micro Lite Rod: https://bassproshops.vzck.net/RyLezv Black https://amzn.to/3nvUIyO Copper https://amzn.to/3hw7HfX Rainbow Trout https://amzn.to/3947UT1 Brass https://amzn.to/391wJyU

Ultralight Baitcasting for Trout on the Blue River in Oklahoma!

Image
Fished the Blue River for trout this round. Opted for Super Dupers and Ultralight Fishing Gear. Three of us fished - two fished with Ultralight Spinning Gear and yours truly fished with Ultralight Baitcasting gear. Cold front rolled in the night before dropping the temps below freezing. Anticipating trout tending deeper, decided to fish Super Dupers. Stopped at Scotty's Blue River One Stop to restock on Super Dupers - picked up Rainbow Trout, Silver, and Copper Super Dupers to add to the gold and silver ones I  already had. After a quick check at the low water crossing, went downriver to fish. After finding the pattern limited out with three trout each! PS: Yours truly wore hip waders and went a little too deep. Lesson learned where Pants Waders or Chest Waders.  Also, we did have a wading boot blowout after many seasons. Secured the sole with rope to make it last one more trip. It worked... and has now been retired. Super Duper Lures Black https://amzn.to/3nvUIyO Copper https...

Short BFS Rod and Reel Combo Worked for Trout Fishing at Heritage Park!

Image
Planned to fish a pond located North of us, then decided last minute to go West to the city of Flower Mound to fish Heritage Park. Its pond was recently stocked with Rainbow Trout. Trout were there but were really picky. Did manage to catch some on a Gold Super Duper and a Pat’s Near Deere fishing fly before switching to bait – Shrimp is what the trout preferred as well as bread. They were biting on Corn initially but did not want PowerBait or PowerWorms. The little three foot Bass Pro Shop’s rod and Shimano Scorpion 17 BFS reel casted nicely. But, no long casts were needed. Trout were lurking right below us near the pier! Limited out with five trout; really small ones. No worries was a fun time. #baitfinesse #bfsfishing #troutfishing Rod and Reel Used!

BFS Fishing | More Micro Crankbaits

Image
More fishing with the Dual BFS Micro Fly Rod. Fished micro crankbaits – Rebel Crawdad, Walmart Minnow, and a Rapala Husky Jerk. Was a tough go with the Rebel Crawdad’s barbless hook and keeping the fish on the hook. Did get several with the minnow crankbaits! Micro Fly Rod Suggestions

DIY Dual BFS and Micro Fly Rod | Pond Fishing for Bluegill

Image
First trip using the DIY Dual BFS and Micro Fly Rod as a micro flyrod, fishing for Bluegill at a local pond. After a slow start was able to catch a few fish using a Near Deere. Used a strike indicator at first, and then removed it once I noticed the fish were chasing the fishing fly. The Echo Ion 2/3wt fly reel with 2wt WF fly line worked well. Able to cast for distance as needed and maintain control. Do have to wait on the backcast as the rod has a slow action. Also, had to use the left hand to increase line speed much like I do with other micro fly rods. Overall, liking the DIY Dual BFS and Micro Fly Rod. Plan to keep the Kastking Zephyr BFS Reel and the Echo Ion 2/3wt in my fishing jacket for these local ponds. Can switch from BFS to Micro Fly Fishing and back again in short order! PS: Slowed the video at several points to demo how I watch the line to set the hook when not using a strike indicator.

DIY Dual BFS and Micro Fly Rod | Works for Bass

Image
Video that demos the DIY BFS rod worked in catching bass at the local pond. Mounted the Kastking Zephyr BFS reel on a rod I made using an ice fishing rod blank, rod handle, and fly rod guides. In short order, it can do double duty as a Micro Fly Rod, too. Makes for a versatile setup when fishing in the warmer months to come! Three Bass caught and released this round!

BFS Fishing | Bass on Ultralight Lures with the Kastking Zephyr

Image
More BFS fishing with the Kastking Zephyr BFS Reel zip-tied to the Orvis Practicaster Fly Rod. Caught one Bass today had other strikes but ended up losing the suspending minnow to a snag. Had to make the emergency run to Cabelas to stock up on ultralight lures. Picked up several lures but none matched the minnow we lost. If someone recognizes the lure, let us know in the comments. Will plan to buy more; really like it. It’s two inches long, weighs 1/16oz, and suspends. It has a blue back, white undersides, with a trace of chartreuse on the side, and a prominent black dot on each side! Fun stuff! bfs #orvispracticaster #kastkingzephyr

Texas Rainbow Trout Fishing | Ultralight BFS Fishing for Trout with 1/16oz Roostertails

Image
Rain delay has us sidetracked but was able to make it Saturday afternoon for a round of Texas Rainbow Trout fishing BFS Fishing style – Bait Finesse Systems fishing, at Frisco Commons Pond. Went with ultralight gear that included the Kastking Zephyr BFS Reel, Berkley Lightning Rod, and 1/16oz Roostertails! Trout were active and did manage to catch three trout for dinner. Reel is casting nicely plus keeping only 100 feet of line on the reel helps with clearing backlashes as yours truly re-educates his thumb to baitcasting again! Trout were active and did manage to catch three trout for dinner. Fun stuff!

BFS Fishing | On an Average Joe's Budget | Kastking Zephyr 70 Bucks!

Image
While snowed in this past week, watched a number of YouTube videos of which several got me interested in BFS fishing. A viewer a while back suggested giving it a try but the cost was too high for yours truly. That is, until I learned about the Kastking Zephyr. Ordered one for just under 70 dollars. Should deliver latter part of next week. Do check back… hope to catch a fish or two trying BFS Fishing on an Average Joe’s Budget!
