Stocker Trout Fishing News

Quick update from the Team has us sidetracked again from editing the TRWD fishing video but really tough given yours truly had the day off. So, to mix things up, decided to do a little “ukelele time” before making the run to Fort Worth to fish the Trinity River for some bruiser Trout! Have tried the week after TRWD Flyfest in the past and had a tough go at catching trout. Weather tends to warm up quickly soon after the event. That said, this round was looking like a strike out. Luckily, did get one that went for an “improvised rat tail” using a Near Deere and a Power Worm. Really nice trout that went 20″ in length! Back to editing video but already know, will be sidetracked by the Trout Derby in Mckinney!  

Enjoyed TRWD Flyfest this past Saturday. Decided to go back to the Trinity River for another chance at the Bruisers that were stocked. Saw lots of folks catching them… unfortunately did not get one this round. Had some on the line, but could not close the deal and land them. Trout are much bigger than the normal stockers we have been seeing stocked this past season. No worries… got some great video of “how not to land them” and action shots of others getting the job done and catching them! Not sure how long the Trout will be in the river given warm temps ahead… regardless if you can make it there this week, your chance at getting one is more likely compared to the the following week! Lessons Learned this round… Don’t leave the landing net in the car, bring one! Looks like the Trinty River Water District has two trout fishing events planned –  Trout Stocking  February and a Flyfest  in March! Sounds like fun!
