Fishing Addiction #8 - "Selective Memory Syndrome"

Image
Been a while since we last posted on our Fishing Addiction Series. Normally, we post videos on our YouTube Channel – see below for Fishing Addiction #1 – #7. This round for Fishing Addiction #8, we put pencil and paper in hand and decided to relive our childhood “stickman” drawings. Fishing Addiction #8 refers to “Selective Memory Syndrome” when said Fishing Addict can recall anything fishing related like when a hatch will start and what fishing fly to use on a given river, GPS coordinates of a Super Secret Fishing Spot, or where a Bruiser fish lurks… but something simple as an errand for his significant other seems to forgotten! “May they never find a cure… Fishing Addiction”

Fishing Addiction #7: "Fishing Secrets" #fishingaddiction

Image
Fishing Addiction #7 is about fishing secrets. Secrets that fishing addicts keep to themselves. It could be a certain lure, fishing fly, or bait. It could be a fishing technique, method, or other how to…, or most of all, it could be that secret fishing spot that no one knows about, holds huge fish, and has countless numbers of fish that are hungry and ready to strike at anything passing by! For this snippet in the series, we opted to make a “music video” to illustrate Fishing Addiction #7. Hope you enjoy “Fishing Secrets” by the Field Team… written and produced by yours truly.

Frisco Commons with the Switch Rod and KDM Fishing Fly... Plus One! #flyfishing #fishingaddiction #switchrod

Image
Fun time yesterday fishing the Switch Rod and “testing” a new pattern – the Krystal Dub Minnow or KDM. Simple pattern made with UV pearl dubbing and saddle hackles; uses a dubbing loop to wrap the dubbing around the hook. Been a while since we used a dubbing loop, but quickly remembered how to use it. KDM cast well with the Switch Rod, and could be seen from a distance in the Frisco Commons Pond. Water was clear, could see a number of Bluegill chase the KDM. Also, had several Bass go for it as well. No Bruisers but did see some bigger then the ones we caught! Fun stuff… even got video of a Bass missing what looked like a butterfly hovering over the water’s surface!

Fishing Addiction #6: "No Rod and Reel" #fishingaddiction

Image
Another video snippet in our Fishing Addiction series. This one is when a fishing addict forgets his rod and reel while on a fishing trip. Said fishing addict will make do with what is available… “we don’t need no stinking rod and reels round here” to go fishing!

Fishing Addiction #5: "Just a Flesh Wound" #fishingaddiction

Image
Fishing Addiction #5 happens when Fishing Addicts hooked themselves but not bad enough to warrant a visit to the emergency room. Moreover, if their ability to cast a line is not impeded by the hook’s location, they continue to fish knowing full well the YouTube video they saw the other day showing how to remove a hook painlessly will take care of the issue… besides, “it’s just a flesh wound”!

Fishing Addiction #3: "The Backpack" #fishingaddiction

Image
Busy work week so far but always have fishing in mind. In this example, said fishing addict selected a backpack based on its capability to hold a Micro Fly Rod, fly boxes, etc… by chance, the laptop and work related equipment fits, too. May they never find a cure… fishing addiction! PS: Did fish a couple of ponds on the way home from work; struck out but no worries… still got to wet a line!     “The Backpack”

Fishing Addiction #2: "Last Fish" #fishingaddiction

Image
This next video snippet shows the classic case where said fishing addict has decided the next fish caught will be the last fish for the trip but that is not the case… may there never be a cure! PS: Micro Fly Rod built last night works really well at casting… larger rod guides worked!
