Back to Murphy City Hall Pond This Round (Feb 22, 2015)

Image
Made it back to Murphy City Hall Pond before the front arrived. Used an Olive/Brown Near Deere, PowerBait, and a Super Duper to limit out! Fishing Buddy hooked up with three on PowerBait, one on a Black Super Duper, and one on an Olive/Brown Near Deere. I took a limit on the fly with an Olive/Brown Near Deere. Saw others hooking up as well! Not sure what they were using but the Trout were biting! Now it's time to bundle up and prepare for the colder temps and freezing conditions.

What I Did To Limit Out on Trout... Five Steps! [2-23-2022]

Image
Originally published February 23, 2022 This round I demonstrate the five steps I follow that helped me limit out on Trout. Do give it a try, and let us know how it worked for you! Step 1 - Observe Where are the trout lurking? What are others doing that is/isn't working? Step 2 - What worked before? Try lures and retrieves that worked from past trips Do the same, else try varying the presentation Step 3 - What is Different? Did something change - warmer, colder? Has the wind changed? Step 4 - Give them what they want! Try different lures Change the retrieve Note any indication of a strike Step 5 - Catch a limit! Once you catch one, repeat If the bite stops, adjust by changing lures again Gear Used Shimano Reel 17 Scorpion BFS XG Right BPS Micro Lite Rod Wordens 3206-S103 Rooster Tail in-Line Spinner 3 Pack, Sz 1/16OZ Luhr Jensen Super Duper

Super Dupers and Bubble Fly Rigs at Bethany Lakes [12-22-2014]

Originally published 12-22-2014. Bethany Lakes Fishing Report We received another report from Bethany Lakes from Glenn who noted the bite was mixed. Some fishermen were doing well catching their limit, while others were striking out. What worked this round: Silver Super Dupers worked well today Gold Super Dupers were also getting struck Sight casting to boils as well as a steady retrieve of the Super Duper helped get strikes As the bite slowed, switching to fishing flies helped A Bubble Fly Rig also helped in getting the distance needed to reach active fish feeding on the surface Below is a short video showing one fisherman bringing in a Trout using a Bubble Fly Rig! Bethany Lakes in Allen Reports from the Team indicated the action Saturday morning was steady for some while slow for others. The Day Before... Bethany Lakes Trout Stocking [12-14-2014]

[Originally Posted 12-14-2014] It's the day before the annual rainbow trout stocking at Bethany Lakes in Allen. The Team is anxious to wet a line and hook a little Stocker Trout! However,  this year the Team will miss tomorrow's fun as they will be attending a graduation ceremony back at Aggieland. The Team will  be in full force in College Station to be sure it is no hoax but one of own is graduating! That said, for those able to make it tomorrow, the Team suggested posting the video from last year's opening day at Bethany. The video is posted below; do check it out.  Key items from that day were: PowerBait worked initially but the action slowed but remained steady Gold Super Duper on a steady retrieve did not work Gold Super Duper on a stop and go retrieve worked Trout tended to strike as the lure fluttered down while stopped Also, last year the weather was sunny and cool; this year it looks like rain and overcast conditions are expected. Not sure how it will affect the...

Super Dupers and Mop Flies for Turner Falls Trout...!

Image
Although it rained Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, Saturday was dry and much warmer for the Team. Given the break in the weather, we headed to Turner Falls Park near Davis, Oklahoma for a round of trout fishing. The Team limited out with several nice sized ones that went for a Gold Super Duper. Other trout were mostly caught on the fly using Mop Flies. Of the trout caught fly fishing, one trout went for a PMC Emerger, another trout took a John Deere, else the remainder taken on fishing flies went for a Mop Fly in Chartreuse with an Orange Egg Sac or Chartreuse with a Pearl Chenille collar. Water was clear, temps climbed to the 60s, and the sun was shining. The wind did kick up as the day progressed. That said, it was a perfect day to be on a river fishing for trout!

Waterloo This Round

Image
Fished Waterloo Saturday. Met up with NucLaroche and had a go at the Rainbow Trout. Took some time but we limited out. NucLaroche opted for Super Dupers taking two on gold and three on silver. Fshng84 caught one on a White Near Deere and four on a Tandem Rigged Olive Near Deere and trailing Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph (GRHEN). Of the Trout that went for the Tandem Rig, all went for the trailing GRHEN. The strike was light; had to pay close attention to any twitch in the line to set the hook. Fun stuff!

A Bass at Bethany, then Trout at Waterloo

Image
Fished Bethany Lakes this morning in hopes of Trout. Much warmer day and was anticipating some good action. However, that was not the case. Ended up catching a Bass on an Olive Near Deere. Did have on Trout take a COAF Griffith’s Gnat but just could not set the hook in time. Having struck out on Trout and in need of a Trout Fishing “fix”, decided to head to Denison and fish Waterloo for Trout. Took a fishing buddy and in short order we limited out! One limit using Silver or Gold Super Dupers. Other limit using an Olive Near Deere! Not a bad day especially on a warm December day!

Three This Round....

Image
Fished the morning from 8AM to 10AM at the Bethany. Lost two on a Gold Super Duper, caught one on a Silver Super Duper, and two on a Gold Super Duper. No luck fly fishing and the bite seemed to slow around 9:00AM or so. Will post a video later. For now, here is a picture of one caught on a Gold Super Duper! Will work on another remote iFishRadio Broadcast, too! UPDATE 9PM Central: Today’s video is posted!

Re-Stocked the Tackle Box....

Image
Tackle Box is filled! Stopped by Cabelas after work today to re-stock the tackle box with ultralight lures that we like to use when fishing for Rainbow Trout – specifically, Kastmasters, Roostertails, and Super Dupers. Did not have all the sizes and colors we were looking for but did have the key ones we like to have at the ready when fishing a recently stocked pond! PS: Audio starts after about 15 seconds. Working on getting it corrected on YouTube, still processing as of 8:50 PM Central, 12/15/15.
