Fisherman Beware of Turtles!

Image
YouTube Shorts video where I place an underwater camera – WaterWolf Camera, under a float with a hook baited with bread. Soon realize… Turtles can steal a bait quickly! This was several years ago when I still had the camera; I lost it while kayak fishing and never recovered it. Since then I have replaced it with a GoFish Cam. It appears the WaterWolf is no longer available… BUMMER! The location was a pond in Murphy, TX that has a good population of Bass and Catfish that tend to be bigger than other ponds we have fished. This round was a bust though… the Turtles managed to steal my bait without getting hooked. Check out the video and note how the Turtle seems to position the bread to where he can easily remove it from the hook! Camera

More Underwater Fishing Video.... #underwatervideo

Image
Been trying various cameras and rigs or underwater fishing videos like we did when we had the Water Wolf Camera. Ended up losing it last year, so have made several rigs for an old GoPro Hero. So far, able to observe fish and their reaction to treated and untreated Scud patterns as part of our test of the Gulp Garlic Marinade. Plan to continue “testing” as our results are inconclusive. Did get the itch to try capturing a live bait strike with a Bluegill… no luck this round, but did find old video from the Water Wolf Camera as a consolation. That said, since no Water Wolf Cameras are in stock, and learned GoFish – with a wireless feature, has cameras in stock. Placed an order! Do check back, plan to do more “testing” of the Gulp Marinade and live bait action shots! GoFish Camera: https://amzn.to/3gBYgsj

Celebration Park with the Water Wolf Camera...!

Image
Lots of fun the other day at Celebration Park fishing with the Micro Fly Rod. While there, decided to put bait on the Water Wolf Camera Rig and toss it in the pond to see what was lurking below. It was mainly Bluegill and Sunfish, but did get a glimpse of Catfish and a Bass… but, for the most part, it was mainly turtles taking our bait! Water Wolf Camera: https://amzn.to/2ylIYDT

Water Wolf Camera - 2017... #waterwolfcamera

Image
Work week is winding down; heard rain is in the forecast but still have fishing rods at the ready for any opportunity to we a line. For now, put a video playlist of the tinkering we did with the Water Wolf Camera last year. Do check them out…   This one shows how turtles can steal your bait without getting hooked! Camera we used…

Corn or Power Bait... Underwater Video of Trout #waterwolfcamera #troutfishing

Fished Waterloo Park Pond Sunday 14 January. Two of us limited out on trout! Used Power Bait and Corn and took some video of the Trout reacting to the baits… looked like Corn won out this round! Water was clearer then the last time we fished the little pond. Was able to get an idea what the Trout were doing to the baits… which prompted us to use the Light Lining Technique to catch them! Fun stuff!

UW Video In The Works, Liking the RIO Trout Max #fishing

Image
Was able to limit out yesterday at Waterloo in Denison. Caught them on Ultralight Gear and Corn. Did get some underwater video using the Water Wolf Camera as well as practice with the 4wt 8′ fly rod using Rio’s Trout Max single spey shooting head. Still working on the underwater video. For now, below is a snippet of the action and a short clip on the Trout Max! Really liking the distance it provides!   went #fishing yesterday, have some video to edit of uw shots. here is a snippet of one #trout that went for corn at #waterloopark #denison A post shared by COAF Field Team (@coaf.field.team) on Jan 15, 2018 at 7:20am PST

Water Wolf Camera Scouting...! #waterwolfcamera

Image
Follow-up video of the action we saw while scouting a local pond for Catfish. Had a number of Catfish look at our bait and many more Sunfish and Bluegill peck at our bait. Fun time but ended this round without a Catfish. One did bend our hook to get away though!

Gotta a Glimpse of One at Least... #waterwolfcamera #clearlakepark

Still editing the video from yesterday’s kayak fishing at Clear Lake Park (Lake Lavon). Struck out but fishing buddy did catch two fish. Trolled various lures with some Berkely Gulp for added attraction. Good to know at least one fish was interested!   #waterwolfcamera video editing still ongoing but did get a glimpse of a #fish from yesterday’s #kayakfishing #lakelavon A post shared by COAF Field Team (@coaf.field.team) on Jul 5, 2017 at 4:38pm PDT

Mojo Was Off Again Today... #kayakfishing #lakelavon #waterwolfhd

Struck out kayak fishing at Lake Lavon’s Clear Lake Park again. Fishing buddy caught a Catfish and a Gaspergou. Actually snagged the line the Gaspergou was attached to… still counts! Got a great workout in and hope to see fish in the Water Wolf Camera that we trolled behind us. Maybe see what did not bite today and post video of it at a later date… Happy 4th of July!   tough round #kayakfishing #lakelavon today. one of us got two fish. yours truly struck out but got a great workout plus uw video with the #waterwolfhd …hope to see what did not bite on video! What's Lurking in the North Pond...! #waterwolfcamera

Image
Decided to do some underwater video scouting at Celebration Park’s North Pond with the Water Wolf Camera. Have not used the camera in a while nor fished the pond recently. But, was able to confirm the Bluegill and Sunfish are still in the pond as well as Catfish!

COAF Field Team Vlog #12 - Water Wolf Camera Action Shots!

Image
Went back to Bethany Lakes Sunday. Brought the Micro Fly Rod and the Water Wolf Camera for chance at the Bass that we missed Saturday morning. Ended up with catching one Bass but did get some actions shots of Bass and Catfish that were lurking in the area. Always pleasant surprise to see what we missed after reviewing the video footage taken by the Water Wolf Camera. In this case, thought we detected only two strikes but as it turned out there were three others that we did not know about. Micro Fly Rod and the “The Simple Fly” (TSF) worked well on the Bluegill and Sunfish. Changed the pattern a little by omitting the bead and how we tied the chenille to the hook. Also, the smaller size hook made for more consistent hook ups on the little fish lurking in the Waterfall pool. Fun stuff!

Celebration Park North Pond This Round

Image
Fished the North Pond at Celebration Park yesterday. Brought the two-piece Micro Fly Rod and the Spinning Rod. Hoped to catch a few scrappy Bluegill and Sunfish while setting out the Water Wolf Camera on the Spinning Rod. Fun stuff!

Celebration Park Northeast Pond

Image
Stopped by Celebration Park this evening and fished for Bluegill and Sunfish with the two-piece Micro Flyrod. Caught several Bluegill and Sunfish using a Tenkara Fly. While fishing for the little scrappers, put out the Water Wolf Camera and fished for whatever would bite. Had a number of strikes but no hookups. Still working on the video but did post a short clip of one Catfish stealing our bait! PS: Video was lost in the web migrations; here is another video of a nice size Catfish being caught and released!

Follow Up Video from Yesterday's Round at Texoma

Image
Fished Texoma yesterday; put in at Highport Marina. Struck out but did get some video of the fish that were lurking in the area. Murky conditions made it tough to see but you do get a glimpse of fish. Good to know that there were fish looking at our lures!

One Keeper Today at Clear Lake Park...!

Image
Caught several White Bass today off the point by the Island at Clear Lake Park (Lake Lavon). Others were doing well casting; opted to troll for them in hopes of a underwater shot of a fish striking the lure. Still editing today’s video but we may have gotten the strike this round! Of the White Bass caught this round, only one was a Keeper. No worries… good workout in and still got to go fishing! Here is the video of yesterday action, and below it are pictures from today. Will get a video of today’s action posted as soon as we can… stay tuned!   One keeper, off the point by the island, tan is maintaining! #kayakfishing #lakelavon #whitebass A photo posted by COAF Field Team (@coaf.field.team) on Jul 21, 2016 at 6:39pm PDT Upper left cntrclockwise. Caught Two Kayak Fishing...

Caught a little Crappie and a White Bass while kayak fishing today. Working on the video but did note one fish that looked at our lure but opted not to strike. Here is a series of pictures taken as it passed by… cannot tell what it is. Maybe a Gaspergou? Caught two fish #kayakfishing today. Got some pics of others on the #waterwolfcamera like this one. Clear Lake Park Sunday Morning!

Image
Had a fun time kayak fishing Clear Lake Park (Lake Lavon) Sunday morning. Only one White Bass but did get some underwater action shots with the Water Wolf Camera. Was good to see what was happening underwater. Did notice the Slab and Jig Rig attracted more fish than a Slab alone. Also, noticed the Slab and Jig was fouled as we paddled past the “Island”. Lots of wind and waves, so opted to keep paddling to a less windy spot before checking the line. Fouled lures may explain the missed hook sets. Also, tried a swim bait that did get one fish to look at it. Swim bait was about 4″ in size, so whatever looked at was at least three times the length of the swim bait.

Brockdale Saturday!

Image
Made it to Brockdale (Lake Lavon) Saturday. Put in the kayak and rigged up with a Crappie Jig and Slab Rig. Lots of wind and waves making the water visibility tough for the Water Wolf Camera. Luckily, did get a glimpse of a little gar! Will have to try again once the water clears up!

Underwater Action at the Local Pond!

Image
Did a little fishing Monday at Kroger Pond. Caught about ten Bluegill using the Marilyn Monroe Tenkara Fly as well as bread for bait. Good to see some nice looking Bluegill lurking in the pond. Had to deal with the turtles; regardless, was able to get a shot of two Bass that looked at our fishing fly.
