Micro Fishing | Two Piece Fly Rod at the Feeder Creek

Image
Quick trip after the day job to a feeder creek for some micro fishing with the two piece micro flyrod. Went with a Griffith’s Gnat fished dry as well as wet. Had few misses at first… smaller hook for these little fish would have been better. But, did catch a few once I found my mojo! Fun stuff! microfishing microflyrod #microflyfishing

Fishing the Waterfall Pool with the Micro Fly Rod... Last Cast? #microflyrod #microfishing #microflyfishing

For a change of pace, decided to checkout the Waterfall Pool at the local pond. Normally catch little Sunfish, Bluegill, and the occasional Bass. Brought the two-piece Micro Fly Rod and started fishing a Near Deere with the Corq Strike Indicator, but switched back to the Line Strike Indicator… fish seemed to be distracted from the fishing fly and wanting to strike the Corq. Also, tied a Scud on as the Near Deere was just too big for the little fish in the pool. Fun time catching and releasing the scrappy fish… but of course, had trouble with determining which cast would be the last cast for this trip… aka “one more cast” for your’s truly!

Pond Fishing with the Micro Fly Rod #microflyfishing #flyfishing

Sidetracked this past Sunday from fishing. Go figure – needed to fix a lawn sprinkler that broke, then had to fix two more that were leaking. Before starting this honey do, made a quick run to Lavon for a chance at White Bass on the point at Brockdale Park. Maybe should have fixed the sprinklers first, ended up striking out at Lavon. No worries, though, was good to get a cast or two to start the day. Plus, excited about a recent purchase of an Okuma Rockaway Surf Rod and a Pfleuger President Spinning Reel. More to come on the purchase! Luck would have it that I finished the honey do with lots of daylight to spare. Decided to flex the two piece micro fly rod and fish Celebration Park’s North Pond using a fresh tied Scud! Had a blast catching sunfish and bluegill. The micro fly rod did well… forgot how fun it is! PS: Long video… mentioned some adjustments made to the line strike indicator, diy leader/tipper setup, and added a demo snippet of the rod casting easily 12 yards des...

More Standup Longboarding and Micro Flyrod Fishing! #longboarding #microflyrod

Decided to give the Standup Longboard workout and Micro Flyrod Fishing another try Sunday afternoon. Was a warm day but a nice one to catch a few Sunfish and Bluegill using the Telescoping Micro Flyrod and the Elk Hair Caddis. We really like the portability of the rod; when collapsed, easily fits in our shirt pocket. Even better, it does not interfere with the “paddling stroke” when standup longboarding. Video snippet has a view of the run that has just the right amount of slope to cruise down in one direction with ease, while allowing for a reasonable “paddle” back “upstream” to the starting point. It’s a workout but not enough to cause yours truly to step off the longboard and walk! Do check out the video and for more on the making your own Micro Flyrod see our article at COAF Micro Flyrod

Wine Cork Micro Flyrod Gets Three Bass...!

Image
Took the Wine Cork Micro Flyrod for a quick trip to Bethany this round. Only had 15″ to fish; caught three Bass that went for a Foam Damsel Fly! Cooler temps compared to the other day but seemed like the Bass (and Bluegill) remain lurking in the shallows. Fun stuff!
