Maximum Catch 10ft 2wt Fly Rod Arrived! #flyfishing

Image
Ordered on a whim from Amazon… Maximum Catch 10ft 2wt fly rod. Planned to mount the Orvis Hydros 2wt fly reel on it and use it in place of the TFO 9ft 6wt with the Echo Ion Reel just for fun…LOL. It’s a long rod at 10 feet, liking the blue finish, and wood reel seat. Not bad for $87… do feel some roughness on the rod tip area. Will see how it holds up. Do stay tuned for a follow up video once we fish with it in the near future!

Two Weight Keeps Doing Well

Was able to get a round of fishing in today. No Bruisers but had lots of fun catching them using the two weight fiberglass rod. Fish went for tenkara flies initially, but shifted to striking “flying insects” landing on the water. So, put on the foam grasshopper and started catching them with it!

Fun Fishing on a Friday...!

Image
Fished Bethany Lakes’ Lower Pond and caught a few Bluegill and little Bass. Then, fished the Back Pond by the Feeder Creek. Normally see a lot of activity after it rains as fish tend to lurk where the creek enters the back pond. This round saw a number of fish, caught several but no Bruisers. Did see some nice ones lurking in the area. Was able to get video of some of them moving about. Do check out the video; we counted three possibly a fourth (may have been one we saw earlier) in the video!

Two Weight Did Well at Sonic Pond This Evening!

Image
The smaller size Foam Grasshopper coupled with the Two Weight fiberglass fly rod did well this evening. Caught twelve bass and lost several others. No Bruisers – largest went about 13″. Still lotta fun as even these little Bass put a great bend in the rod! PS: We used a Size 12 Hook and scaled down the Foam Grasshopper to fit the hook. Also, noticed with the weight of the hook and the rubber legs, the fly tends to sink instead of float which seems to trigger strikes at least these last three trips we have gone out on.

Glendover Park This Evening

Quick trip this evening to Glendover Park. Had not fished it in a while. Used to catch Catfish here but not certain if they are still there… did get a Bluegill and three Bass. No Bruisers but they all put up a great fight on the 2-Weight Fiberglass Rod!

Quick Trip with the Two Weight

Made a run down the road to Bethany Lakes this evening. Really nice day with warmer temps compared to the past weekend. Could not let the day end without wetting a line. Used the Two Weight Fly Rod and fished a Tenkara Midge, GRHEN, and Griffith’s Gnat to hook up with some little Bluegill and Sunfish by the Waterfall. Lots of fun, sure beats work!
