Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod Still Works... +1!

Image
Did some fishing with the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod while working on getting u/w video action shots of the fish in a couple of ponds. Caught a number of Bluegill/Sunfish with a Tenkara Fly. No action shots of fish taken our bait but did get a lot fish activity plus turtle activity! Still learning how to get good action shots with the Water Wolf Camera; hope to get one of a fish taking our bait sooner than later!

Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod Gets Two This Round

Had a little time today to break away from the “salt mines”. Had the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod handy in the car and hit a nearby pond – been some time since we fished the pond by Cinemark in Allen. Last time we tried to fish it, it was dry from the drought. Before that, we fished it and caught little Sunfish. Pleasant surprise this time; caught two Bass – one went about 13″ in size and the other was a fingerling. Fun stuff! https://www.instagram.com/p/BECKCanRCqy/

Micro Fly Rods!

Image
Fished several places Sunday for Rainbow Trout and struck out. Getting ready to call it a day, but decided it was too nice a day to stay indoors. On a whim, dusted off the Micro Fly Rods and went fishing for some “mini-Bruisers”. After changing fishing flies several times, found the pattern and the right size hook and started catching them! Even caught a pretty fingerling Bass! Had a great time on a really nice Texas evening catching these “mini-Bruisers” on micro fishing gear! Hope to try it again soon… still have components for another Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod; may get the “itch” to make another one!

Quick Trip with the Micro Fly Rod

Image
Rainy day but it did stop by early evening (or at least it was misty only). Took the opportunity to make a quick trip to Bethany Lakes to fish with the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod. Checked out several places before settling by the Waterfall. Caught Bluegill and Sunfish using an Olive Near Deere and a Tenkara Midge. No new fish species this round but still was lots of fun! Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod and a Sunfish!

Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod Works!

Image
Took a break yesterday to cast the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod. Did not go fishing but did get a feel for the “cast-ability” of the rod. It cast well; able to take it to the backing. Next step… go fishing! So today, went fishing after work. Decided on Bethany Lakes to try catching a Bass or Bluegill with an Olive Near Deere. Still cold with snow still lingering in areas. Did not expect much and only had about a half-hour to fish… pleasant surprise, caught a Rainbow Trout in the Canal! Fun stuff!

Finished the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod

Image
Another cold front arrived in the area. Rain, freezing rain, and some snow later tonight. So, took the opportunity to finish the Micro Fly Rod I have been tinkering with… calling it the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod since the handle is made from old wine corks. Other things used: 1 Line Rod Guide 2 Single Foot Fly Rod Guides 1 Fly Rod Tip Guide Hook Keeper Reel Seat 31″ Solid Graphite Ice Fishing Rod Blank After the rod guide thread wraps dried, mounted the Crappie Jig Reel that we used for the Micro Fly Rod Concept Rod on to the Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod and did some test casts indoors…. very promising, casts well and with larger rod guides the fly line moved smoothly on the cast! Wine Cork Micro Fly Rod PS: Was good to use the homemade Rod Wrapping Guide for something other than repairing broken rod guides!
