Guadalupe River Tenkara Fishing | Got Sidetracked... Oops!

Image
While on the road a couple weeks ago, stopped in New Braunfels, Texas and fished the Guadalupe River at the River Access Park. Opted for the Tenkara Rod as we were on the road and keeping things light. Worked out well, was able to get a quick trip in! Caught little guys… looked like longear but did get sidetracked when I noticed a lingerie photo shoot was happening downriver. Took a stroll downriver of course to scout the river for fish… wink, wink, wink!

Kayaking the Guadalupe #fishing #kayak #pelicankayaks

Had a fun Friday on the Guadalupe River kayaking and fishing. Water flow was slow; mainly paddled upstream and observed the “tube hatch” as we kayaked to the 3rd Crossing. Did catch a couple of Bluegill and a little Bass. Caught one using a Kastmaster with its hooks removed and a trailing scud. Caught the other two using a Roostertail. Although the fishing was slow, gotta a good workout in paddling upriver and downriver! Happy 4th of July!

Finished editing the video from last month’s trip to the Texas Coast with sidetrips to the Texas Hill Country. Fished the Guadalupe River but only briefly. No Bruisers but did get to try the OPST Commando Head on the River. Works great… perfect for fishing the area! Tooks sidetrips to Austin to the Oasis Restaurant to enjoy the view of Lake Travis and consume tasty foods and cold frozen drinks. Also, made stops in New Braunfels – specifically, Gruene.: The Grist Mill for a bite as well as some chips and salsa and other foods. The Gruene Hall for beers and live music! Gruene River Grill for the best MEXICAN MARTINIS! Gruene Outfitters where we found a combination Nail Knot Tying Tool and Nippers as well as some awesome – no slip, cork strike indicators Went on to the Texas Coast by way of Port Aransas, fun times fishing: Packery Channel where we quickly learned Fish Bites make great bait for perch, pinfish, hardheads, etc On the Cap’n Paul Fishing Boat ...

Fished the Guadalupe River this Round

Image
Fished the Guadalupe River this round. We were targeting Bass and Panfish but struck out. Worked several pools down river from the tail race using a strike indicator and a Near Deere. After a while, went up river and fished the tail race. First tried the area by a big tree in the River. Had a strike on the first cast but missed it. Kept at it for about 30″ but did not get anymore hits. So, crossed over to the other side, and fished the seams, pockets, and the deep pool. After a couple of light strikes, managed to finally hook up with a Rainbow Trout! Did lose another as well but overall had a great time on the Guadalupe River!
