Closed Out 2021 Kayak Fishing Lake Texoma | One Striper, Two Carp or Buffalo? | GoFish CAM

Warm temps had us setting out the kayaks for a go at the Striped Bass at Lake Texoma. Our Texoma Licences were good till 12/31/21 and the Annual COE Permit was good to go till August 2022. Foggy trip up the road from Allen but things cleared and we put in at East Burns Run with the plan to dead drift flukes and shad for the Striped Bass. Water was chilly, wind was not too bad at all, and waves were not an issue. The only issue we had were no Stripers. Not wanting to closeout 2021 on a strikeout headed to Denison Dam to fish the tailrace. Fishing Buddy hooked up with one Striped Bass and yours truly although did not catch a fish, did get some video footage of what was lurking below. What a difference a day makes,… or in this case months. Earlier in the year, we fished Denison Dam and put in the GoFish Cam. There were fish everywhere… this round, saw two fish only – looked like Carp or Buffalo. Here’s to 2022 and more fishing fun and more “Learn to Fish by our Trials and...

More Kayak Fishing at Texoma... #kayakfishing

Cooler temps this morning but did make the run to Texoma and put in a Spillway Ramp. Had one school pass and was able to catch one Striper. Later, worked a school of shad and was able to catch a Gaspergou. All was quiet, trolling, jigging, and sight casting but no more schools breaking the surface like the other two trips. However, did get one more Striper while casting to point. Still working on the video; will get it out in the next few days. PS: Having the depth finder (Lowrance Hook 3X DSI) made a difference in locating schools of shad! #kayakfishing this morning to #texoma for #stripedbass …first breakfast of champions! #coffee and #nutterbutter cookies …went with pants instead of shorts but still have kayak sandals, cooler temps this morning A post shared by COAF Field Team (@coaf.field.team) on Jul 30, 2017 at 5:02am PDT

Kayak Fishing Lake Texoma This Round

After a delayed start Saturday morning – still had work things to resolve, we headed out for Texoma. Since Cabelas was on the way, we re-newed our Lake Texoma fishing licenses and picked up a new PFD for Nuclaroche. Good deal on the life jackets that were on sale – 30% off the ticketed price! As we headed up 75 North, we debated about where to “put in” the kayaks, but after a short pros/cons discussion we decided on Highport Marina just North of Pottsboro. The rocky shoreline near the Marina has been a consistent producer for us and the Islands where we had great action last year are readily accessible from the Marina. When we arrived at Highport Marina, we heard music in the background coming from the Island Restaurant; it looked like a special event (maybe a boat show) was ongoing. After paying the boat ramp fee (it’s still $5.00!), we launched our kayaks and headed to the rocky shoreline. While passing the breakwater, we did see a school of “someth...
