COAF Damsel Fly in Red! #flytying

Image
Had a question from a Reader about how we tied the Red Damsel Fly that we used to catch the Catfish at Plano East Senior High School (PESHS) the other day. Below is a short video that details how we tied it. Other than only using two versus three marabou plumes, it is the same as described in our article, “ COAF Damsel Fly “! Do check it out; also included the video from our trip to PESHS!

COAF Guadalupana #flytying

Image
While fishing in Frisco this past weekend, we met one of our Readers who asked about the Guadalupana fishing fly that we used while fishing the Guadalupe River several seasons ago. Has been awhile since we tied one but we do recall it was an effective fishing fly for us, working on the trout on the Guadalupe River, stocker trout in our local ponds, and Bass in the Spring and Summer months. Having reminded us about the fishing fly, we decided to tie a couple. This round we used the dry fly hackle wrap instead of the palmer hackle wrap that we showed in our article, “COAF Guadalupana Fishing Fly” . Both work well in a given situation, but just in case, we like to have them both in our fly box! Do give them a try when you get a chance! Palmer Hackle Wrap

Weightless Texas Rigged Yamasenko

Image
Been awhile since we updated an online article we published back in 2013. We wrote the article to let Readers know about our favorite soft plastic worm – Gary Yamamto’s 4″ Yamasenko in the Black and Red Flake. A recent post in Texas Fishing Forum’s Bank Fishing – Community Lakes thread, reminded us to update the article as the video showing how we rig a 4″ Yamasenko was removed. We have since updated the article to include a more recent video titled – Weightless Texas Rigged Yamasenko. Do check out the video! Has other tips and video of the action on Senkos at our local pond – Bethany Lakes (Allen, TX).

Fly Tying - The PMC Emerger Article is Posted! #flytying

Image
Had a couple of Readers ask about the fishing fly we have been using to catch the trout feeding on and/or near the water’s surface. We have been using two patterns – the Griffith’s Gnat tied on a caddis hook and the PMC Emerger. Since we could not find instructions online on how to tie a PMC Emerger – short for Plain Mayfly Crooked Emerger, we decided to post an article and video on how we tie one. Do check it out – “Fly Tying – The PMC Emerger” , when you get a chance, and do give this pattern a try!
