Would I Buy It Again... OPST Commando Head? 🤔

Image
Closing out the One-Handed Spey Fly Fishing series with a final product review of the OPST Commando Head 175grn that I used with a 4wt, 8ft fly rod. I describe the simple rating system to rate a fishing product and in the OPST Commando Head it rates high... "will purchase again" or better said, I have purchased again, and again, and again!

Mystery Tackle Box Unboxing #bfsfishing

Image
Received a three month subscription to the Mystery Tackle Box! First box delivered. Let’s open it up and see what is inside! I chose the Panfish and Trout package as the last time I had a subscription there were some great lures that I consider perfect for BFS ultralight fishing!

Tie-Fast Knot Tying Tool | Making a Line Strike Indicator

Image
Question from a Viewer on the Tie-Fast Knot Tyer Tool and how I used it to make a line strike indicator. Made a short video that explains it. May be of interest to others. Click on the picture or go to this link – Tie-Fast Knot Tying Tool. The Tie-Fast Knot Tying Tool is what we use to make a line strike indicator for fly fishing as well as a variation of a loop to loop connection for our fly line to leader when our fly line does not come with a pre-formed loop. Kayak Fishing | New Zebco Slingshot Rod | Does it still Float?

Image
Really liked the Zebco Slingshot Rod and Reel combo that goes for under $10. Bought two several years ago from Walmart for backup kayak fishing rods. By accident, learned the rod floats! Dropped it over the side when kayak fishing and recovered it readily because it floated! Purchased another rod last year for $9.98 as a backup trout fishing rod. Noticed the rod handle has a “skeleton” handle… no full foam handle like the older one. This past weekend bought another one for still $9.98. It has the skeleton handle. Wondered if the new rods float like the older rods… so did a quick test! #zebco #kayakfishing #fishing Check Walmart for their current price. “Cool colors. Hot spinning performance. All at a great price. These custom-matched Combos are great for all ages with long-casting Slingshot spinning reels and durable 2-piece Z-Glass rods.”

Maximum Catch 10ft 2wt Fly Rod Arrived! #flyfishing

Image
Ordered on a whim from Amazon… Maximum Catch 10ft 2wt fly rod. Planned to mount the Orvis Hydros 2wt fly reel on it and use it in place of the TFO 9ft 6wt with the Echo Ion Reel just for fun…LOL. It’s a long rod at 10 feet, liking the blue finish, and wood reel seat. Not bad for $87… do feel some roughness on the rod tip area. Will see how it holds up. Do stay tuned for a follow up video once we fish with it in the near future!

Zebco Slingshot Spinning Combo... It FLOATS! #fishing

Image
Here is a snippet from an earlier video when we went kayak fishing at the local lake. Shows the Zebco Slingshot Spinning Rod and Reel that we discovered by accident that it floats handle up! Lost two rods way back when while kayak fishing, replaced them with these two rods… have not lost them since! Cool colors. Hot spinning performance. All at a great price. These custom-matched Combos are great for all ages with long-casting Slingshot spinning reels and durable 2-piece Z-Glass rods. See la test price at Walmar t.

Why We Like the Echo Ion Fly Reels #productreview

Image
We like the Echo Ion Fly Reel for various reasons and for several seasons thought we had the complete line of reel weights. They come in the following weights: 2/3, 4/5, 6/7, 7/9, 8/10, and 10/12. After a little cleaning of the “fishing play room” learned we did not have the 7/9 weight. In short order put an order in at FishUSA; reel arrived and now we have the complete line. That said, to answer a Viewer’s question on what reel we like for fly fishing, we posted this video. From the jest of the video, we hope we answered the mail… Echo Ion Fly Reels! Do check back periodically as we hope to provide more reviews like this one to show other fishermen what gear we use and recommend using a simple rating system: “Alrighty Then” – Will buy it again. “It’ll Do” – Will buy it if in a bind. “Not Gonna Do It” – Will not buy even if the fish are biting!
