Stocker Trout Fishing News

More practice with the Switch Rod. This time went to Plano East Senior High School to fish the catch and release ponds. Ongoing construction has limited access to one of the ponds but still managed to catch a fish or two! One was a Bass went for a Tube Popper Fishing Fly, another was a Bluegill went for a Near Deere, and then snagged a bobber that was floating in the pond… had a little Catfish attached to the hook and line.  

Decided to tie a couple of Red Damsel Flies and fish the catch and release ponds at Plano East Senior High School. Started out with a little fingerling Bass, then a Sunfish, and then a nice Catfish! Fun time… liking the Damsel Flies in purple and now in red, too! Ended the trip with 4 Bass, 2 Catfish and a little Sunfish. Cold and windy but did have fun practicing casting the switch rod. Even had a few little Bass and Bluegill jump on the line! Made a run over the Plano East Senior High School and fished their catch and release ponds. Had a number of light strikes using a Near Deere under a strike indicator. But, it was the short, quick pulls or the steady retrieve that had the fish striking… at lease the little Bluegill and Bass! Fun time getting out and bending a rod; great way to close out the long holiday weekend!

Fished Plano East Senior High School this morning. Brought the 5-Weight and used a Bent Back Clouser Minnow. Caught two little Bass and a nice Catfish that put up a good fight! Going to post a picture of the Catfish on the Fishing Bulletin Board ! Fun stuff!

Tied a couple of Near Deere and took them to Plano East Senior High School for a round of fishing. Was targeting Bass and Catfish; ended this round with Catfish and Bluegill! Caught two Catfish and three Bluegill fishing the Near Deere under a strike indicator. Good to fish with the Fly Rod/Reel again. Been having lots of fun kayak fishing but Trout Season is just around the corner! Fun stuff…. Catfish that went for a Near Deere!
