Fishing with the EmmRod... First Cast, First Fish! #emmrod

Image
On a whim bought an EmmRod in their Kayak King Spinning Rod model to use for kayak fishing. Put the order in while on a cruise last week. Rod arrived while we were having fun in the sun and ocean. On our return, rigged up an old spinning reel that we managed to get working again… 30+ year old reel, and then mounted it on the EmmRod. Took it to a local pond and free-lined bread “mashed” around a circle hook. After about 15″ caught a nice Catfish! Not bad for the first cast, first fish on the little rod. Cannot wait to try it kayak fishing! EmmRod Kayak King Spinning Rod

Zebco Slingshot Spinning Combo... It FLOATS! #fishing

Image
Here is a snippet from an earlier video when we went kayak fishing at the local lake. Shows the Zebco Slingshot Spinning Rod and Reel that we discovered by accident that it floats handle up! Lost two rods way back when while kayak fishing, replaced them with these two rods… have not lost them since! Cool colors. Hot spinning performance. All at a great price. These custom-matched Combos are great for all ages with long-casting Slingshot spinning reels and durable 2-piece Z-Glass rods. See la test price at Walmar t.

Texoma on Sunday afternoon

Image
Liking this report from Texoma!   Texoma on Sunday afternoon [by didja getny] I went to Texoma yesterday afternoon. Put in at the dam and scouted for at least an hour before I found fish. But when I found them it was on! First school I found was 6" dinks. After they cruised by they were followed by a healthy school of overs. From this school I landed a couple of 6 lb'ers, then hooked one quite a bit larger. I fought it for about 60 seconds, then it popped off. Hooked another good one and it popped off. Then a third.....that popped off. There's a moral to this story: check your hook! Apparently I had bent the hook on the first big one, and lost two more being too lazy to check my hook. As it turned out, the two 6 pounders were my biggest fish. But I caught countless 16" to 20" fish......along with a bunch of dinks. I caught all these fish within 40 yards of the bank, so you guys with float tubes and kayaks can

Q&A... fishing with spinning gear? #lakelavon #tailrace

Image
Always happy to answer questions from Readers of our blog and Viewers on our YouTube Channel. We are not fishing experts nor professionals but will readily offer a suggestion for areas we have fished in the past. Most recent is a question from one of our YouTube Viewers that asks about tips on fishing the dam at Lake Lavon. Below is an excerpt of the question from our YouTube Channel – COAF FIELD TEAM. In our reply, we suggested working the pier, rocky bank area, the Railroad Bridge, and then downriver keeping the tips below in mind. For videos fishing the tail race at Lake Lavon, see the videos below. For more videos about fishing Lake Lavon, see the video play list below.

Kayak Fishing and Jug Lines for Catfish at Lake Lavon! #juglining #kayakfishing

Image
Went kayak fishing for catfish using jug lines and shad for bait. Fishing partner along with our newest member of the Field Team – Charlie the Maltese Puppy had a great time, despite said puppy having a dunking this round. No worries… life jacket did well plus we caught five Catfish that made for a tasty dinner. Will plan a catch and cook video to show how we cooked them! For more on the “magenta” jug lines we used, see our article “ Kayak Jug Fishing “.

Quick trip with the Telescoping Micro Fly Rod

Image
Went kayak fishing yesterday on the local lake. Caught five Catfish using Shad on Juglines. Filleted them and cooked them blackened fish style. Tasty meal but still got a ways to go before the video is done; will get it posted soon as we can…. For now, did a quick trip with the Telescoping Micro Fly Rod trying to catch a small fish on a size 32 fly… correction size 28 fly! Bluegill took it, switched to a size 18 Griffiths Gnat and caught a Sunfish. Fun times, especially with a rod that fits conveniently in a pocket. Do stay tuned for more on yesterday’s kayak fishing video! For more on Micro Fly Rods, see “…Micro Fly Rod”
