Catch and Cook Pan Fried Habanero Trout

Image
Throw back Wednesday to celebrate “Hump Day” and get us through the midweek blues… how about a catch and cook of trout we caught last season? Froze the trout in ice, and they stayed as fresh as the day we caught them last Winter. Used a Rubber Legged Near Deere to get them to strike! For cooking, decided to try a new recipe – Pan Fried Habanero Trout! Ingredients: Salt Pepper Garlic Powder Chopped Habanero (with or without the seeds, proceed with caution) Stocker Sized Rainbow Trout fillets Directions: Season fillets with salt, pepper, and garlic powder Sprinkle chopped Habanero over fillets Let sit in the refrigerator for two hours or more Pan fry in oil on high heat for two minutes each side. Three minutes if crunchy fillets are desired

Fly Fishing without a Fly Rod #bubbleflyrig #spoonandflyrig

Here is a video that details how to fly fish without a fly rod using two methods – Bubble Fly Rigs and Spoon and Fly Rigs. The Bubble Fly Rig is a proven method for fishing flies use a bubble float cast with a spinning rod and reel. It targets fish feeding on the surface, just under the surface, and in the upper part of the water column. The Spoon and Fly Rig is not as well known and limited information can be found online. But, it has been a consistent fish getter for those situations where fish are in the lower part of the water column, actively feeding on baitfish and other “tasty morsels”! Do give them a try and keep them at the ready when fish flies are the go to pattern but you don’t have a fly rod, still learning to cast one, or the situation warrants spinning gear over a fly fishing gear!

Here is a quick tie demo of how we tie the Guadalupana. Uses minimal material, and is simple to tie. Works on trout, bass, and bluegill. Do give it a try, and do keep guessing on our Fishing Fly Give Away of two Guadalupana fishing flies. One tied with a Palmer Hackle. Other with a Dry Fly Hackle. Both on size 8 streamer hooks. See more and comment in our video posted on our channel! PS: Do see more details on how to tie the pattern at COAF Guadalupana Fishing Fly.
