Kayak Fishing and Jug Lines for Catfish at Lake Lavon! #juglining #kayakfishing

Went kayak fishing for catfish using jug lines and shad for bait. Fishing partner along with our newest member of the Field Team – Charlie the Maltese Puppy had a great time, despite said puppy having a dunking this round. No worries… life jacket did well plus we caught five Catfish that made for a tasty dinner. Will plan a catch and cook video to show how we cooked them!

Sounds like RC is still getting bit! Fisherman13: Re: Rowlett Creek 2016 Conditions looked great today.... low pressure and some passing clouds should have been a great morning at the creek. Here are a few pics of the ones I caught yesterday evening. Not very big but fun to catch on light line. Try some of those tiny flukes on 1/32 ounce jig head under a bobber about 4ft or so. A report from Lake Lavon… looks like some fish. Perry: Re: Lavon dam I went down this morning .. People catching a couple sandbass, buffalo,and drum.. It was actually a lot slower than I thought it would be.. Didn't see any hybrids caught or crappie but I'm sure they are in there somewhere.. I was only able to stay for hour or so.. Report from RC this past weekend. LakeForkGroupie: Re: Rowlett Creek 2016 Fishing was slow Sat morning. I had muddy water. I fished down by 66 bridge and noticed cars were coming and going, after hitting several spots, using several lures and colors, I found out why.. no fish. I left about the same time as others, they also blanked. Decided to head up to Firewheel and use the 4X4 truck in the mud. Finally found a few fish in the first pocket up the bridge, couldn't find them anywhere else. Ended up catching 12 small ones on tiny flukes dragged on the bottom. I have noticed the flood waters have moved around some underwater brush piles as I lost a lot of lures in new places. Also saw about 20 snakes. All water snakes. Great info on Texoma!!       texoma1231: Fly Fishing Texoma August 15 & 16th I fly fished lake Texoma the past two day and had a great time and caught plenty of fish. This past Tuesday I put in at Eisenhower State Park and was on the water by 6:30am. Headed west out of Eisenhower along the rocks and the sand bass and stripers were schooling on top in some of the largest schools that I have seen in a long time. The Sand bass were of good size but the stripers were of the smaller variety. We were using 6wt rods with floating line and charetruse/white clousers. Sometimes you would find larger sand bass and stripers mixed in with the average size. We caught fish all morning long and were off of the water at 11:00am. If you want to have a great time catching tons of fish, now is the time to go. Wednesday was an exact repeat of Tuesday!!!!! Tight Lines     ...

Kiyotaki 18 and Micro Fly Fishing

Headed out to Plano Saturday morning and fished the Davis Library Pond using the Kiyotaki 18 Rod and a Size 14 Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph. Had a mix of little Bluegill/Sunfish with a several larger ones that took the fishing fly as well. Been a while since we fished with the light Tenkara-style rod. Almost forgot how simple it was to fish with minimal gear. Had a fun time… later went back out in the afternoon and had more fun Micro Fly Fishing. Still working on the video; will post soon as it’s done. Stay tuned, hoping the underwater video shots can be used! Let me tell you wading was a great deal mor difficult with a generator running today. But the water is very clear so was able to safely navigate through it to one of my favorite positions. I added a third split shot and actually started out with the eight today which I have not taken recently. Shortly into the outing I caught a split shot right at the tip very easy fix but end of the day for the eight. So it was back to the old trusty four lol. I still had a size 6 on it and immediately went to pounding the Sandbass every cast. But seeing as I had been on a fairly consistent striper action I put three big split shot on and a size 2 clouser and I started chunking and ducking haha.
