Two Weight Did Well at Sonic Pond This Evening!

The smaller size Foam Grasshopper coupled with the Two Weight fiberglass fly rod did well this evening. Caught twelve bass and lost several others. No Bruisers – largest went about 13″. Still lotta fun as even these little Bass put a great bend in the rod!

PS: We used a Size 12 Hook and scaled down the Foam Grasshopper to fit the hook. Also, noticed with the weight of the hook and the rubber legs, the fly tends to sink instead of float which seems to trigger strikes at least these last three trips we have gone out on.

Early start this morning had us fishing Bethany Lakes with the Foam Grasshopper in size 14. Caught several fish – little Bass and Bluegill. Then, had brunch in Dallas at the Katy Trail Ice House, followed by a little hiking on the Katy Trail. While out and about checked out Turtle Creek and saw lots of Bass, Bluegill, and Sunfish. Good thing we like to keep the Kiyotaki 18 Tenkara Rod handy when hiking. In short order, caught several fish including a few Longear Perch using the Marilyn Monroe Tenkara Fly! DIY Tanago Rod

More tinkering around with ice fishing rod components. For ease of reference, calling it the Do It Yourself (DIY) Tanago Rod. Going to use it for Micro Fishing; hopefully to catch one of those “guppy” looking fish! Easy to make… used a 20″ solid fiberglass ice fishing rod, a 12″ wooden handle, and a braided cord for the lillian. Add some 2 pound test mono – smallest line in the tackle box, ready to try it out! Kayak Fishing | Lake Lavon | Lavonia South Boat Ramp

Put in at Lake Lavon’s Lavonia South Ramp for some kayak fishing. Plan was to catch a few fish for a soup recipe – specifically, yellow bass as well as anything else that was legal size! Went with Nightcrawlers and caught a few, then caught a few more bottom bouncing slab and jig rigs! Do check back for the soup recipe and the next day’s trip kayak fishing Clear Lake Park on Lavon!

More Trout Fishing at Bethany Lakes! #troutfishing

Another round at Bethany Lakes Sunday. Limited out using Gold Super Dupers and Gold Kastmasters. Then, did some catch and release fishing with the Switch Rod. Trout went for a Olive Near Deere, Guadalupana, and a Krystal Dub Minnow! Fish wanted a fast retrieve; did get a lot of missed strikes and trout nipping our lures/fishing flies!   Gold Kastmaster used today!
