Fun Fishing on a Friday...!

Fished Bethany Lakes’ Lower Pond and caught a few Bluegill and little Bass. Then, fished the Back Pond by the Feeder Creek. Normally see a lot of activity after it rains as fish tend to lurk where the creek enters the back pond.

This round saw a number of fish, caught several but no Bruisers. Did see some nice ones lurking in the area. Was able to get video of some of them moving about. Do check out the video; we counted three possibly a fourth (may have been one we saw earlier) in the video!

Liked the EmmRod Kayak King for fishing the local pond for Catfish. Very convenient to carry around or keep in the little pickup truck. Ordered the Fly Rod, arrived yesterday but was not able to fish it till today. Had to make a run to Fort Worth, so brought the EmmRod Fly Rod and several Near Deere fishing flies just in case we had a chance at fishing today. Was able to fish with it on the Trinity River in Fort Worth. Water was high with lots of flow from recent rains. Did manage to catch a few Longear Perch and Sunfish! Looks like the fly rod will be made readily available for more side trips while on the commute home from the day job!

Oops, I did it again… another Winter trout stocking season is soon to be here. Like in past seasons, yours truly modified the schedule posted by TPWD to sort by Stocking Date and the count of trout stockings planned for a location and its estimated trout to be stocked. Makes for ease of reference by allowing Readers to quickly see when the next trout stocking is planned. As changes are unexpected for various reasons like weather, do check for updates, changes, and corrections at TPWD’s website – 2021-2022 TPWD Trout Stocking Schedule . Note: Dates for trout stockings at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFCC) in Athens show 12/1/21, 1/1/22, and 2/2/22. These are placeholders as TPWD’s schedule indicates various stockings instead of a specific date. Before planning a trip do contact Athens TFCC – contact page. The big schools of females have made their push up most creeks last week and the week before, and with this rain a lot of hybrids will show up as well. Before I got there Keith was already at 103 Magnum Sandies. Took me less than 45 minutes to put 25 fat female mags on the stringer. The tent caterpillars are out now. Kayak Fishing | Lake Lavon | Lavonia South Boat Ramp

Put in at Lake Lavon’s Lavonia South Ramp for some kayak fishing. Plan was to catch a few fish for a soup recipe – specifically, yellow bass as well as anything else that was legal size! Went with Nightcrawlers and caught a few, then caught a few more bottom bouncing slab and jig rigs! Do check back for the soup recipe and the next day’s trip kayak fishing Clear Lake Park on Lavon!

It has been some time since we posted the Bass Weight Estimator on our archived blog - CityOfAllenFishing.blogspot.com , but after a few tweaks, it is available once again on our current blog - Stocker Trout Fishing ! Check it out and keep it handy when out in the field fishing for bass. Information is derived from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (link to TWPD's site) . It's meant for catch and release fishing for Bass and estimates the weight based on the length measured to the nearest 1/8 inch.
