Fishing the Waterfall Pool with the Micro Fly Rod... Last Cast? #microflyrod #microfishing #microflyfishing

For a change of pace, decided to checkout the Waterfall Pool at the local pond. Normally catch little Sunfish, Bluegill, and the occasional Bass.

Brought the two-piece Micro Fly Rod and started fishing a Near Deere with the Corq Strike Indicator, but switched back to the Line Strike Indicator… fish seemed to be distracted from the fishing fly and wanting to strike the Corq.

Also, tied a Scud on as the Near Deere was just too big for the little fish in the pool.

Fun time catching and releasing the scrappy fish… but of course, had trouble with determining which cast would be the last cast for this trip… aka “one more cast” for your’s truly!

Tested out a new fly pattern – no name for it yet. Caught a Bass and lost a Bass, then switched to damsel flies and caught Bass, Bluegill, and Sunfish.  Will tweak the new fly pattern more, and “test” it out again. Was good to see lots of fish near shore in their beds. Looked like the bigger Bluegill were further out from shore this year. Regardless, makes for some good fly casting practice for distance… Fun stuff!

Rainy Day Then Cleared Up... #

Rainy day, so did not plan to go fishing. Ran some errands and ended up having drinks at Mash’d in Plano. Fun time…even got a quick trip in at Bethany Lakes. Struck out but did get some great practice fly casting. For now, going to relive past fishing trips… in this case, kayak fishing on Texoma!   rain is gone, still no #fishing …bummed, but getting #mashed at #mashd …hee, hee! Another Quick Trip... Trout Fishing Towne Lake in McKinney

Really nice day! Still have video to edit but did limit out at Towne Lake in McKinney; caught but released five Rainbow Trout that went for an Olive Near Deere using the same setup as we used yesterday at Murphy – Corqs Strike Indicator and a Near Deere set 3 feet below it. Dead drift worked as well as a few short pull retrieves. Short on time but still a fun time… plus Charlie the Maltese Puppy got to see his first… hopefully many more to come, Rainbow Trout! Video still in the works; will post on our YouTube Channel when done. But, for tonight, we are chillin and grillin steaks and winding down this weekend!

Bethany "Flats" for a Quick Trip

Decided to fish Bethany Lakes again today after work. Only had about an hour but it was enough to catch a few Bass and Bluegill from the flooded area of the Horseshoe Pond. Calling it the “flats” since the water is less than a foot deep and the Bass cruise the area in search of a bite like the Redfish do in the Laguna Madre! All went for a Pink Near Deere. Ran out of them yesterday but luckily the pattern is an easy one. Now have two – one on the fly rod and another in the fly box. UW Video In The Works, Liking the RIO Trout Max #fishing

Was able to limit out yesterday at Waterloo in Denison. Caught them on Ultralight Gear and Corn. Did get some underwater video using the Water Wolf Camera as well as practice with the 4wt 8′ fly rod using Rio’s Trout Max single spey shooting head. Still working on the underwater video. For now, below is a snippet of the action and a short clip on the Trout Max!
