Kayak Fishing Canyon Lake - Tough Day and Hot Temps, Too

First time kayak fishing Canyon Lake. Water   was crystal clear and weather was sunny and hot. Only caught two litle fish but did get a good workout in!

Did see some Baby Buzzards feeding on a dead carp. May have been a sign to try fishing another time.

LOL!

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. UW Video In The Works, Liking the RIO Trout Max #fishing

Was able to limit out yesterday at Waterloo in Denison. Caught them on Ultralight Gear and Corn. Did get some underwater video using the Water Wolf Camera as well as practice with the 4wt 8′ fly rod using Rio’s Trout Max single spey shooting head. Still working on the underwater video. For now, below is a snippet of the action and a short clip on the Trout Max! Only Two This Round Tenkara Fishing #flyfishing

Tough round this go… a little Bass and a Bluegill after spending most of the time trying to get Bass protecting their bed to strike. Had one strike but missed it; else, the Bass were definitely wary! Overall, have been pleasantly surprised at the convenience of Tenkara and its simplicity. Definitely makes it easier for quick trips to fish local ponds while out and about and/or on a whim!

Next in the Getting Started in Fly Fishing series is a video that shows yours truly catching fish using only 32 feet of line - 8 feet of line on the rod, 16 feet of line past th rod tip, and 8 feet of leader tippet. If you are first starting out and you get frustrated with your cast, try less line and focus on a stealth approach/presentation to fish lurking near the bank. And, gain a feel for setting the hook and playing a fish on a fly rod. Fun stuff!
