"Starting a Blog"

While online checking out various forums, noted a question posed on one forum that asked about starting a blog. Decided to answer the question with a few suggestions.

At the end of this post is a picture of the suggestions offered. In particular are the points noted in the recap.  Have listed the points below for Readers who may be interested in starting their own blog:

  • Start with Blogger; it’s free and simple to use.
  • Link Social Media to your Blog; use your Blog to provide more details/info to your Readers
  • Be sure to set your posts so a URL is created for each post; you can use it to create links elsewhere online
  • When the free option no longer supports your blogging requirements, upgrade to a hosted Blog and purchase your own domain
  • Be sure to archive your original blog and make it available to Readers after upgrading
  • PS: The online name will represent your blog for its entire “life”, pick a good one!

More GoFish Cam Fish Scouting at the local pond. Was sidetracked from scouting for fish with the GoFish Cam when five hot air balloons were passing by. One seemed to be low but quickly climbed higher. Still learning the GoFish Cam but am liking the ability to scout likely areas holing fish. This round added a plastic tube to keep the baited hook from landing close to the lens and blocking our view of the area… seems to work. Mainly Bluegill and Sunfish again, but did get a glimpse of a Bass passing by! Do check back for more GoFish Cam Fish Scouting!

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Tends to be best on the coldest days and a week or so after stocking. (Helps the crowd and let's new fish get acclimated)     Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums

Quick Trip to Bethany Lakes ... Feeder Creek! #flyfishing

Fished Bethany Lakes on a quick trip using fly fishing gear to test a new pattern – Near Guad. It’s a combination of the Near Deere and the Guadalupana. Had one Bass look at it, else no takers. Switched to a smaller Guadalupana and caught a Sunfish and a Bluegill, then put on a Griffith’s Gnat and caught several more… fun time!   Log Book Entry: 3/08/17 Location: Bethany Lakes – Feeder Creek (Allen) Time: 18:00 – 18:45 Weax: Clear, “Long Sleeve”, Calm Rod: Redington Classic Trout 5wt – 9′ Reel: Echo Ion 4/5 – 6wt Flyline   Comments: Fished the Back Pond and had one Bass follow the Near Guad. But, it did not take it. Moved to the Feeder Creek and caught a Sunfish and Bluegill on a Guadalupana. Later, changed the fishing fly to a Griffith’s Gnat as there were a number of strikes but no solid hook ups. Caught several more Sunfish and Bluegill with the Griffith’s Gnat. Back to a local pond that I have not fished for in awhile to “test” the Martin Fly Fishing Combo sold in a kit by Amazon. Using a Muddler Minnow that came with the kit. It’s beaten up but still catches fish. Lots of fun, and got a new idea for the next video in the series where I use only 32 feet of line to fish. The intent… you don’t need to cast long distances to catch fish to get started fly fishing! Stay tuned for more!

Another Quick Trip... Trout Fishing Towne Lake in McKinney

Really nice day! Still have video to edit but did limit out at Towne Lake in McKinney; caught but released five Rainbow Trout that went for an Olive Near Deere using the same setup as we used yesterday at Murphy – Corqs Strike Indicator and a Near Deere set 3 feet below it. Dead drift worked as well as a few short pull retrieves. Short on time but still a fun time… plus Charlie the Maltese Puppy got to see his first… hopefully many more to come, Rainbow Trout! Video still in the works; will post on our YouTube Channel when done. But, for tonight, we are chillin and grillin steaks and winding down this weekend!

Cannot Catch Them All....

Short on time so went for a quick trip to Sonic Pond. Man… what a difference a day makes. Yesterday, could not keep the fish off of our fishing fly. Today, could not get them to bite! Luckily, did get one to finally take the Pink Near Deere. It was a little Bass that at least saved us from striking out. Windy conditions and a chill in the air. Bummer to hear the rain is in the forecast these next few days. Really wanted to fish the Blue River again for more Trout. Oh well, cannot catch them all!
