Denison Dam

Striper fishing at the dam was good today. I caught about 20 with 3 weighing between 4-6#, all on my fly rod. I missed more than that, including one that broke my leader and was 8-10#. I caught three sandbass as well as two nice size skipjacks. They're not generating until 1:00 this week so it gives plenty of time to fish in the morning.

Liked the EmmRod Kayak King for fishing the local pond for Catfish. Very convenient to carry around or keep in the little pickup truck. Ordered the Fly Rod, arrived yesterday but was not able to fish it till today. Had to make a run to Fort Worth, so brought the EmmRod Fly Rod and several Near Deere fishing flies just in case we had a chance at fishing today. Was able to fish with it on the Trinity River in Fort Worth. Water was high with lots of flow from recent rains. Did manage to catch a few Longear Perch and Sunfish! Looks like the fly rod will be made readily available for more side trips while on the commute home from the day job!

Like in past seasons, yours truly modified the schedule posted by TPWD to sort by Stocking Date and the count of trout stockings planned for a location and its estimated trout to be stocked. Makes for ease of reference by allowing Readers to quickly see when the next trout stocking is planned. As changes are unexpected for various reasons like weather, do check for updates, changes, and corrections at TPWD’s website – 2021-2022 TPWD Trout Stocking Schedule . Note: Dates for trout stockings at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFCC) in Athens show 12/1/21, 1/1/22, and 2/2/22. The big schools of females have made their push up most creeks last week and the week before, and with this rain a lot of hybrids will show up as well. It has been some time since we posted the Bass Weight Estimator on our archived blog - CityOfAllenFishing.blogspot.com , but after a few tweaks, it is available once again on our current blog - Stocker Trout Fishing ! More Kayak Fishing at Texoma... #kayakfishing

Cooler temps this morning but did make the run to Texoma and put in a Spillway Ramp. Had one school pass and was able to catch one Striper. Later, worked a school of shad and was able to catch a Gaspergou. All was quiet, trolling, jigging, and sight casting but no more schools breaking the surface like the other two trips. However, did get one more Striper while casting to point. Still working on the video; will get it out in the next few days.
