Stocker Trout Fishing News

Here is a video short of yours truly trying to catch a trout or two after figuring out the pattern. Trout were wanting no retrieve, minimal movement... or a long pull and then hold while the fly sank. Used a Pat's Near Deere, and then a Pat's Rubber Legs.

Here is a simple but effective pattern to try... possibly for the first time fly tyer! Uses bead chain eyes and two plumes of marabou. Worked for Bass and Bluegill at the local pond!

Left the Senkos at home while out and about. Fishing with BFS Gear - Shimano Scorpion 17, Bass Pro Shops Micro Lite Rod, and Rooster Tails. Saw bass cruising the shallows, had several strikes and lots of misses. Did run into a school of little Bass that just did not want to commit to striking the Rooster Tail. Luckily, water was clear and I could see them react to my lure... so, tried this to get them to strike. It worked, except I still need to work on my landing technique! Check out the video!

It was a fun time last Saturday at the 7th Annual TRWD Flyfest. We have not missed one since the first TRWD Flyfest in 2016! A fly fishing event that offers fly fishing demos, fly tying classes, fly fishing seminars, and fly casting lessons. It also hosts a Big Trout Contest which is a Team favorite. This year we were able post a livestream while we watched contestants compete. Although we missued Heat 4 and the final Fish Off to decided the contest winner, we did enjoy the fast paced action that Heats 1 – 3 provided. Key items to note this round… fly fishing presentation and technique coupled with positioning where the fish are lurking made a difference in numbers of trout caught!

Mystery Tackle Box arrived! Livestream unboxing and Team updates! Fun time this past weekend in Oklahoma! Limited out at the Blue River, then checked out some local happening in OKC! Had Friday off last week. Made the run to the Blue River to try trout fishing using ultralight fishing gear. We left the fly fishing gear at home. Your truly and opted for a Bait Finesse System Combo that truly has me hooked. Our fishing buddy went with an Ultralight Spinning Combo. Tried various lures and in the end, it came down to Super Dupers and presentation, changing the retrieve as needed based on the trout striking or more importantly on what they were nor striking! Quick update on this past weekend's fishing fun. Made the run to the Blue River in Oklahoma where we fished with Bait Finesse Gear and Ultralight Spinning Gear. Two fished; two limits taken! But, was not just about fishing. Able to checkout the happenings at the OK State Fairgrounds - specifically, the Gun Show and the Backwoods and Outdoor Show. Shout out to the folks we saw this weekend! Great meeting Kevin at Scotty's One Stop, Scott at the Gun Show, and the Official Fish Boss at the Backwoods and Outdoor Show! Fished another pond for trout and limited out. Tried the five steps detailed in another video. Looks like they worked! Just needed to find the pattern. Check out the video! Link to other video...
