Texas Rainbow Trout Fishing | GoFish Cam Scouting at Bethany Lakes

Having fun GoFish Cam scouting for trout during the Texas Rainbow Trout Fishing stocking season. This round we checked out Bethany Lakes yesterday. Overall, bite was slow but did get strikes on the Super Duper at dusk. Still need to work on the rigging for the GoFish Cam to get better action shots, but was able to see a fish – I think it was a Bass, and then noted lots of “buggy-ness”. Looks like the green led light attracts things!

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. More fun fly fishing ponds on the commute. This round it’s Crowley Park, Duck Creek, and Kroger Park! Crowley Park in Richardson yielded two Bass on an Indicator Fly. Lost the Wapsi Bream Getter to a Tree Fish! Duck Creek was a morning round that caught a few Sunfish, but did spy some nice Bass lurking by the bridge. Also, lost the Wapsi Bream Getter on the first cast. This was a new one we tied that morning. Finally, Kroger Park did well; able to fish the side of the pond that had been clobbered with greenery for weeks. Wind blew it to the other side! Took advantage and fished the clear bank and caught some decent Bass… using the Foam Damsel Fly. Tied another Wapsi Bream Getter but left at home…. no worries! Was still a great time!

Mardis Gras Near Deere Keeps Working

More fun catching Bass on the fly with the Mardis Gras Near Deere. Caught ten this time in just under an hour. But, had to call it quits early to go on a pizza run for dinner. No worries… still beats working! Playing the next few days by ear; will see what the change in weather brings. Pattern that worked for us yesterday and today was a fishing fly that simulated a small bait fish 1-1/2 to 2″ in length. If not fly fishing, would go with a small Road Runner of Crappie Jig on a steady retrieve using Ultralight Spinning Gear.
