Tenkara Fishing Another Pond! #tenkara #fishing

Planned to go kayak fishing Saturday but sidetracked with weather and a little chill in the air. Quick change to pond fishing in short order… went Tenkara fishing a local pond. Caught a few Bluegill and Bass working a Foam Grasshopper.

Overall, this trip showed the convenience of Tenkara with a change in plans from kayak fishing to pond fishing easily accommodated.

More important, what could have been a missed day of fishing because yours truly may have been sidetracked by a potential “honey do” or two was avoided!

Past experience I have been diverted from fishing when asked, “Oh, I thought you were going to the lake today? No, then can you…?”

Ouch! Good thing I had a Tenkara Rod a the ready!

Quick Tie - Sabiki Fly #coaffieldteam

Here is another quick tie fly tying demo but with a twist. This is a pattern that uses foil wrappers used for Bevita Cookies, Frito Lays Chips, etc. It’s a simple tie and is rigged sabiki style. We have used it using surf casting gear on our local lake for White Bass.We have also used it trolling with our fly rods while kayak fishing. Saturday Switch Rod Practice at Bethany Lakes.... #switchrod

Decided to get a round of Switch Rod casting practice at Bethany Lakes this morning. Missed two Bass but did get two Bass. Lots of fun especially getting distance casts using the one-handed style we like. One Bass went for a Clouser Minnow; the other Bass went for an Olive Near Deere. The two Bass we missed went for the Clouser Minnow. Limited out yesterday on trout at Bethany Lakes but struck out this morning. Let me tell you wading was a great deal mor difficult with a generator running today. But the water is very clear so was able to safely navigate through it to one of my favorite positions. I added a third split shot and actually started out with the eight today which I have not taken recently. Shortly into the outing I caught a split shot right at the tip very easy fix but end of the day for the eight. So it was back to the old trusty four lol. I still had a size 6 on it and immediately went to pounding the Sandbass every cast. But seeing as I had been on a fairly consistent striper action I put three big split shot on and a size 2 clouser and I started chunking and ducking haha.
