Fishing Ponds and Cooking a Tilapia #chillin #fishing

Fished Celebration Park East Pond. Water was low and the bite was not on. Tried freelining a bread ball on the EmmRod Kayak King Rod. No luck.

Went to Bethany Lakes and fished the Wapsi Bream Getter on the 4wt Redington Fly Rod. Caught Bass and a Bluegill.

Since no keepers this round, fried a Tilapia that we picked up at the store. Cooked golden brown and topped with an Egg and Salsa mix… tasty, tasty, tasty!

Charlie had to put his two cents in… bunnies were invading the backyard. Good thing he keeps a vigilant watch, protecting our domicile from those vicious creatures!

It’s all good, especially with a sip or two of Samuel Adam’s Oktoberfest beer!

More Trout Fishing at Bethany Lakes! #troutfishing

Another round at Bethany Lakes Sunday. Limited out using Gold Super Dupers and Gold Kastmasters. Then, did some catch and release fishing with the Switch Rod. Trout went for a Olive Near Deere, Guadalupana, and a Krystal Dub Minnow! Fish wanted a fast retrieve; did get a lot of missed strikes and trout nipping our lures/fishing flies!   Gold Kastmaster used today!

More Kayak Fishing at Texoma... #kayakfishing

Cooler temps this morning but did make the run to Texoma and put in a Spillway Ramp. Had one school pass and was able to catch one Striper. Later, worked a school of shad and was able to catch a Gaspergou. All was quiet, trolling, jigging, and sight casting but no more schools breaking the surface like the other two trips. However, did get one more Striper while casting to point. Still working on the video; will get it out in the next few days. Red/White Tenkara Fly Did Well!

Liked the Olive/White Tenkara Fly; decided to try Red for the body and White for the Wing… end result is another simple but effective fishing fly pattern. Tested the pattern at Bethany Lakes this evening. Really windy day but did get enough casts to catch 12 fish this round  – two Bass and ten Bluegill! May need to tie more of these guys!

Kayak Fishing | Lake Lavon | Lavonia South Boat Ramp

Put in at Lake Lavon’s Lavonia South Ramp for some kayak fishing. Plan was to catch a few fish for a soup recipe – specifically, yellow bass as well as anything else that was legal size! Went with Nightcrawlers and caught a few, then caught a few more bottom bouncing slab and jig rigs! Do check back for the soup recipe and the next day’s trip kayak fishing Clear Lake Park on Lavon!

Only One at Brockdale This Round

Late start of the three day weekend. Had to tie up some loose ends before starting the Labor Day Weekend. Did make it to Brockdale this round. Used a Switch Rod and a Crappie Jig and caught nothing after an hour. Then as is got dark,had a little White Bass strike. Fun stuff…! Only one just as it got dark!

Fun Times... "What comes first...?" #flytying

Fun times… looks like the Elk Hair Caddis that we tied the other day has resulted in controversy – specifically, should the wire rib used be tied over the hackle or should it be tied under it over the dubbed body and then follow with the hackle? Since its up to the fish… going to tie them both ways, and see what happens.  Suspect the rib tied over the hackle will be more durable then tying it over the body, will see what happens.  More a matter of preference; have had the last Ellk Hair Caddis last a season without an issue. Nevertheless, going to tie two Elk Hair Caddis using both patterns; let’s have some fun and use it as an excuse to go fishing! LOL!
