Kayak fishing Lake Lavon Saturday morning. Slow bite but did catch four fish using the bottom bouncing technique. Did keep two fish for a catch and cook video!
More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Tends to be best on the coldest days and a week or so after stocking. (Helps the crowd and let's new fish get acclimated) Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums

Having fun catching little fish with the Micro Fly Rod. Next step… taking the Micro Fishing Challenge to catch a fish that can fit on a US Quarter using a Micro Fly Pattern! Starting out with what we have on hand for the smallest hook – a size 22 dry fly hook. However, did place an order with TenkaraBum at TenkaraBum’s Store for micro fishing hooks in size 26 and size 30! Do check back and/or join us in trying to catch a fish on the fly that can fit on a Quarter! Here is another quick tie fly tying demo but with a twist. This is a pattern that uses foil wrappers used for Bevita Cookies, Frito Lays Chips, etc. It’s a simple tie and is rigged sabiki style. We have used it using surf casting gear on our local lake for White Bass.We have also used it trolling with our fly rods while kayak fishing. For more details on the sabiki rig, check out “ Making a Sabiki Rig for White Bass “. Also, for a more detailed (and slowed down fly tying demo), go to “ Sabiki Fly Tying Demo “. It’s longer but also demos how to make the Sabiki Rig.
Video of yesterday’s pond fly fishing action on the 4wt Redington Fly Rod and Echo Ion Fly Reel. OPST Commando Head worked well for reaching out mid-pond but most strikes were nearer to shore.
Look like another Saturday with two Trout Derbies planned – McKinney Towne Lake and Murphy City Complex Pond . Should be a fun day with the kids! McKinney Trout Derby Murphy Rainbow Round Up
Decided to get a round of Switch Rod casting practice at Bethany Lakes this morning. Missed two Bass but did get two Bass. Lots of fun especially getting distance casts using the one-handed style we like. One Bass went for a Clouser Minnow; the other Bass went for an Olive Near Deere. The two Bass we missed went for the Clouser Minnow. A report from Lake Lavon… looks like some fish. Perry: Re: Lavon dam I went down this morning .. People catching a couple sandbass, buffalo, and drum.. It was actually a lot slower than I thought it would be.. Didn't see any hybrids caught or crappie but I'm sure they are in there somewhere.. I was only able to stay for hour or so.. Long enough to find out that I have a leak in my waders!! Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums
Sounds like RC is still getting bit! Fisherman13: Re: Rowlett Creek 2016 Conditions looked great today.... low pressure and some passing clouds should have been a great morning at the creek. Here are a few pics of the ones I caught yesterday evening. Not very big but fun to catch on light line. Try some of those tiny flukes on 1/32 ounce jig head under a bobber about 4ft or so. That worked great yesterday. I caught and released a bunch. Also got some on a clouser minnow fly. Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums
