Scouting a Feeder Creek

Stopped by Bethany Lakes this evening. Fished the Back Pond for about 30″.  Had several Bluegill strike a Foam Grasshopper but was not able to hook up. Also, tried fishing a few beds but the water was murky making it tough to see the Bass.

Decided to scout one of the feeder creeks in the area. Saw several nice Bass but none wanted to take a fishing fly. Switched to fishing for Bluegill and caught four.

Three went for Soft Hackles and one went for a Prince Nymph. Fun stuff!

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Size 22 Worked This Round (TBT to January 17, 2015)

Went back out to try the Kiyotaki 18 Rod again. Smaller sized fishing fly made a difference. Caught and released a number of little fish this time. But, I still think smaller hooks are needed to get the smallest fish that struck at the fly. Also, for the fishing fly, used a Red Midge with Antron Wing instead of a Tenkara Fly. The fish were lurking below the undercut bank and waited until the fishing fly was near the bottom. The Red Midge seemed to sink faster than the Tenkara Fly. Fun stuff... posted a picture of one of the little Bluegill and a video clip of the action.

Lake Lavon Dam

A report from Lake Lavon… looks like some fish. Perry: Re: Lavon dam I went down this morning .. People catching a couple sandbass, buffalo,and drum.. It was actually a lot slower than I thought it would be.. Didn't see any hybrids caught or crappie but I'm sure they are in there somewhere.. I was only able to stay for hour or so.. Quick Tie - Sabiki Fly #coaffieldteam

Here is another quick tie fly tying demo but with a twist. This is a pattern that uses foil wrappers used for Bevita Cookies, Frito Lays Chips, etc. It’s a simple tie and is rigged sabiki style. We have used it using surf casting gear on our local lake for White Bass.We have also used it trolling with our fly rods while kayak fishing. Rowlett Creek 2016 _update

Sounds like RC is still getting bit! Fisherman13: Re: Rowlett Creek 2016 Conditions looked great today.... low pressure and some passing clouds should have been a great morning at the creek. Here are a few pics of the ones I caught yesterday evening. Not very big but fun to catch on light line. Try some of those tiny flukes on 1/32 ounce jig head under a bobber about 4ft or so. Limited Out Yesterday, Struck Out This Morning #troutfishing

Limited out yesterday on trout at Bethany Lakes but struck out this morning. May need to make a stop later and see if the trout are rising and taking “bugs”… for now, made a short instagram clip from yesterday!   struck out this morning #troutfishing the local pond.
