 Grabbed the old fly rod and tied on a Betts Popper and caught a Bass at the local pond!

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Semi-Old School Today

Went “semi-old school today” and fished with an old Olympic Fiberglass Fly Rod and a newer Echo Ion Fly Reel. Rod was purchased from Oshman’s in Corpus Christi back in 1978. Echo Ion Fly Reel was picked up from Cabela’s in Allen in 2015. Started out fishing the Bent Back Clouser Variant that we used at the pond by Sonic yesterday. Had Bass looking but not striking for some reason. Did notice the “green stuff” is growing, so switched to a Foam Damsel Fly and hooked up with a Bass and a Bluegill!

Made it to Eagle Mountain Lake Park and walked the trails. Your’s truly brought fishing gear and first opportunity to wet a line… did so! No bites but did get to leverage the OPST Skagit Commando Head to cast line without regard to the trees blocking our back cast! Glad to know that the single-handed spey casting will work when needed in these field situations! Fun time… but tonight going to look for live music venues in the area; more to come on Instagram!

More on Squaw Creek…     Littlefeather: Re: Squaw Creek Tilapia I've not been to Squaw since Winter but caught a whole box of Tilapia and big channel cats. Squaw is the hottest water lake I've ever fished so Winter really pays off! Generally in the warmer months almost every fish in the lake goes as far up the river as they can go so they escape the hot power plant water circulating. Sometime you can just step from one boat to the next to the next up the river in the Summer. I wouldn't think the bank fishing areas would be very good right now but January and February should be non-stop action. We generally just use a slip float, small hook, and regular old worms. Liking the Bass action from a report on Saint Patrick's Day at Bethany Lakes in Allen! McKinneyLonghorn: Re: Community Lakes Had a great night fishing at Bethany on St. Patrick's Day. In fact, I accomplished what I have dubbed the Bethany Lakes Grand Slam - catching at least one bass from each of the four ponds in one day. Started off in the Horseshoe Pond with a bass off a bed using a Baby Brush Hog. Then caught four in the Main Pond using a wakebait, plus one off a bed using a Senko that actually jumped back out of the water and onto the bank once I released him (and luckily I caught that on video). Finished with two more fish on a wakebait, one from the Upper Pond and one from the Lower Pond 35-40 minutes after sunset.
