Most of my fish were caught deeper -- 300 grain sink tip and a countdown from ten to 30 seconds, depending on where they showed up on the fish finder. But when they were up, it was just cast and strip, as fast as you can. Going back tomorrow for another dose of this fishing medicine!
Kayak fishing Lake Lavon Saturday morning. Slow bite but did catch four fish using the bottom bouncing technique. Did keep two fish for a catch and cook video!
A report from Lake Lavon… looks like some fish. Perry: Re: Lavon dam I went down this morning .. People catching a couple sandbass, buffalo, and drum.. It was actually a lot slower than I thought it would be.. Didn't see any hybrids caught or crappie but I'm sure they are in there somewhere.. I was only able to stay for hour or so.. Long enough to find out that I have a leak in my waders!! Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums
More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Tends to be best on the coldest days and a week or so after stocking. (Helps the crowd and let's new fish get acclimated) Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums
Sounds like RC is still getting bit! Fisherman13: Re: Rowlett Creek 2016 Conditions looked great today.... low pressure and some passing clouds should have been a great morning at the creek. Here are a few pics of the ones I caught yesterday evening. Not very big but fun to catch on light line. Try some of those tiny flukes on 1/32 ounce jig head under a bobber about 4ft or so. That worked great yesterday. I caught and released a bunch. Also got some on a clouser minnow fly. Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums

Having fun catching little fish with the Micro Fly Rod. Next step… taking the Micro Fishing Challenge to catch a fish that can fit on a US Quarter using a Micro Fly Pattern! Starting out with what we have on hand for the smallest hook – a size 22 dry fly hook. However, did place an order with TenkaraBum at TenkaraBum’s Store for micro fishing hooks in size 26 and size 30! Do check back and/or join us in trying to catch a fish on the fly that can fit on a Quarter! View this post on Instagram #microfishing #flyfishing challenge… catch a fish on #fishingfly that can fit on a quarter! starting with a size 22 hook but have an order in from #tenkarabum for size 26 and 30 hooks. Cover me I am going in! A post shared by COAF Field Team (@coaf.field.team) on Oct 10, 2018 at 7:38pm PDT
Went back out to try the Kiyotaki 18 Rod again. Smaller sized fishing fly made a difference. Caught and released a number of little fish this time. But, I still think smaller hooks are needed to get the smallest fish that struck at the fly. Also, for the fishing fly, used a Red Midge with Antron Wing instead of a Tenkara Fly. The fish were lurking below the undercut bank and waited until the fishing fly was near the bottom. The Red Midge seemed to sink faster than the Tenkara Fly. Fun stuff... posted a picture of one of the little Bluegill and a video clip of the action.
Report from RC this past weekend. LakeForkGroupie: Re: Rowlett Creek 2016 Fishing was slow Sat morning. I had muddy water. I fished down by 66 bridge and noticed cars were coming and going, after hitting several spots, using several lures and colors, I found out why.. no fish. I left about the same time as others, they also blanked. Decided to head up to Firewheel and use the 4X4 truck in the mud. Finally found a few fish in the first pocket up the bridge, couldn't find them anywhere else. Ended up catching 12 small ones on tiny flukes dragged on the bottom. I have noticed the flood waters have moved around some underwater brush piles as I lost a lot of lures in new places. Also saw about 20 snakes. All water snakes. They just kept swimming all over the creek. No snakes on land, happy about that. Retrieved from http://texasfishingforum.com/forums
Here is another quick tie fly tying demo but with a twist. This is a pattern that uses foil wrappers used for Bevita Cookies, Frito Lays Chips, etc. It’s a simple tie and is rigged sabiki style. We have used it using surf casting gear on our local lake for White Bass.We have also used it trolling with our fly rods while kayak fishing. For more details on the sabiki rig, check out “ Making a Sabiki Rig for White Bass “. Also, for a more detailed (and slowed down fly tying demo), go to “ Sabiki Fly Tying Demo “. It’s longer but also demos how to make the Sabiki Rig.
