How We Load Our Kayak... #kayakfishing

Struck out today but did get a good workout in kayak fishing. Tried Brockdale Park on Lake Lavon without a strike. Should have taken the hint when we did not see any Shad moving about. Used the fish finder to locate submerged structure but did not see any fish hanging out in the spots we found.

No worries though, did take the opportunity to answer a Reader’s question on how we load our kayak. Since we have a little pickup truck, loading and unloading the 38lbs kayak can be done one handed by one person!

Can’t catch them all, till next round… Good luck and good fishing!

Happy "Non-Labor Day"

Enjoyed a morning walk on a “Non-Labor Day”… like to use this term for today since we are not working today. While on the walk, checked out a pond and its feeder creek for any fish. Did not see any fish in the pond but noticed a number of Bluegill and Bass lurking in the feeder creek. No fishing this round; did get a couple of videos and posted them below!   On a walk today. Old Bamboo Fly Rod Keeps Catching 👌 - Vintage Bamboo Fly Rod Series Round 3

Back out to the local pond fishing a Muddler Minnow using vintage gear - Southbend Bamboo Fly Rod and Shakespeare Fly Reel. Was a little slow at first but managed to catch several Bass and Bluegill. Water was clear, could sight cast to most of the time. Was frustrating at times as I could see fish look and then turn away from the Muddler Minnow. Overall, the series has been a fun one to do!

Saturday Switch Rod Practice at Bethany Lakes.... #switchrod

Decided to get a round of Switch Rod casting practice at Bethany Lakes this morning. Missed two Bass but did get two Bass. Lots of fun especially getting distance casts using the one-handed style we like. One Bass went for a Clouser Minnow; the other Bass went for an Olive Near Deere. The two Bass we missed went for the Clouser Minnow.
