New Pond This Round

Tried a new pond this round. Had passed by this little pond in the past but never stopped to fish it. On a whim decided to give it a try.

Tough casting with a fly rod due to the trees and bank access is limited. Regardless, managed to find a couple of open areas that we could cast between the trees and overhanging branches.

Caught little Bass and Bluegill using the scaled down Foam Grasshopper. No Bruiser but still lots of fun!

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Quick Tie - Sabiki Fly #coaffieldteam

Here is another quick tie fly tying demo but with a twist. This is a pattern that uses foil wrappers used for Bevita Cookies, Frito Lays Chips, etc. It’s a simple tie and is rigged sabiki style. We have used it using surf casting gear on our local lake for White Bass.We have also used it trolling with our fly rods while kayak fishing. Saturday Switch Rod Practice at Bethany Lakes.... #switchrod

Decided to get a round of Switch Rod casting practice at Bethany Lakes this morning. Missed two Bass but did get two Bass. Lots of fun especially getting distance casts using the one-handed style we like. One Bass went for a Clouser Minnow; the other Bass went for an Olive Near Deere. The two Bass we missed went for the Clouser Minnow. Limited Out Yesterday, Struck Out This Morning #troutfishing

Limited out yesterday on trout at Bethany Lakes but struck out this morning. May need to make a stop later and see if the trout are rising and taking “bugs”… for now, made a short instagram clip from yesterday!   struck out this morning #troutfishing the local pond. PK Stripers...!

Let me tell you wading was a great deal mor difficult with a generator running today. But the water is very clear so was able to safely navigate through it to one of my favorite positions. I added a third split shot and actually started out with the eight today which I have not taken recently. Shortly into the outing I caught a split shot right at the tip very easy fix but end of the day for the eight. So it was back to the old trusty four lol. I still had a size 6 on it and immediately went to pounding the Sandbass every cast. But seeing as I had been on a fairly consistent striper action I put three big split shot on and a size 2 clouser and I started chunking and ducking haha.
