Quick Trip This Afternoon....

Hope to go for a quick trip to Murphy this afternoon for Trout. Going to try a new fishing fly tied in tandem with a Patriot Fishing Fly as an indicator. It’s called a “Green Weenie”.  More to come… also, do check our Twitter timeline in the sidebar. Should see tweets on the Green Weenie as well as updates while we head out in a few.

Update 8PM: Made it to Murphy but struck out on the Rainbow Trout. Saw others catching them but only managed two Bluegill. Trout were feeding on the surface on something that was hatching. Still a great time getting out of the office! PS: Game Warden was checking licenses, so be sure to have your’s at the ready when fishing.

More info on Possum Kingdom! With the lake full and the flow good we caught almost trout till July this year up by the dam. Many had put on serious weight hope the lake stays full again this year. Limited out yesterday on trout at Bethany Lakes but struck out this morning. May need to make a stop later and see if the trout are rising and taking “bugs”… for now, made a short instagram clip from yesterday!   struck out this morning #troutfishing the local pond. Let me tell you wading was a great deal mor difficult with a generator running today. But the water is very clear so was able to safely navigate through it to one of my favorite positions. I added a third split shot and actually started out with the eight today which I have not taken recently. Shortly into the outing I caught a split shot right at the tip very easy fix but end of the day for the eight. So it was back to the old trusty four lol. I still had a size 6 on it and immediately went to pounding the Sandbass every cast. But seeing as I had been on a fairly consistent striper action I put three big split shot on and a size 2 clouser and I started chunking and ducking haha. Saturday Switch Rod Practice at Bethany Lakes.... #switchrod

Decided to get a round of Switch Rod casting practice at Bethany Lakes this morning. Missed two Bass but did get two Bass. Lots of fun especially getting distance casts using the one-handed style we like. One Bass went for a Clouser Minnow; the other Bass went for an Olive Near Deere. The two Bass we missed went for the Clouser Minnow.
