Lake Level Is Up...!

With all the rain over the past weeks, Lake Lavon was just short by 2 feet of pool on Saturday. By Sunday, it hit pool! That said, more boat ramps are open on the lake.

As we wait for Trout Stocking Season to arrive later this year, we plan to do more jug lining and kayak fishing during the Spring and Summer.

To kick things off, we headed to Ticky Creek Park to do some jug lining Saturday. When we arrived, we noticed the boat ramp was looking really good. Much easier to launch the jon boat!

After setting the jon boat into the water, threw the cast net several times. Did not catch any Shad. Good thing we stopped for bait – frozen Shad and Night Crawlers.

Slow action Saturday with a lot of bait stolen by what we think were little Catfish and possibly Yellow Bass. We did catch three Keepers and let go several undersized Catfish.

Sunday afternoon, I decided to go it alone and put in the kayak at Ticky Creek Park. Intent was to explore around as well as catch maybe one of the little fish that were stealing our bait yesterday.

As luck would have it, struck out. No fish this round but did get a light nibble as well as two good strikes while working a windy point bouncing a baited Crappie Jig on the bottom!

Going to have to try it again another time. Regardless, had a great time on the water, and as Kayak Fishing goes… got a workout in as well!
